Honigs Pants

I have been on Honigs' website many times and have never seen different models of shirts. It even says that the shirt priced at $18.95 is their 2010 shirt and that they're changing material for 2011.

I bought my first Honigs shirts this year (polo blues), and was not impressed. The material is okay but the sizing sucks and the collar on one of them starting fraying on the end after just a few washings. It's too late to send it back, but I won't be buying any more Honigs shirts at least until they fix the sizing issues. Smitty makes a much better fitting and better made shirt, especially for the money.

Mine frayed after 1 wash cycle and I bought and XL and it is way to tight with the CP on. My Smittys XL fits perfectly with the CP and the large is great for the bases.

On the Flip side I bought the pink Dalco and the Large fits perfectly with the CP.

Yes this is exactly the crappy shirt I bought. Do not buy it. Its crap!

Even the dump-the-crap-that-didn't-sell price is high.

most companies tell you to order down a size.. now some of the 'newer" companies are making there shirt to order the same size you normally wear..

These new Parkistan made shirts are a different size than their previous shirts. I bought one in the old size and had to send it back because it was huge.

I have six Honig's shirts that I just pulled from my closet (arranged by color, then manufacturer). I wore two of these shirts heavily over the past three seasons and they are still acceptable.

The other four have been purchased during the past year. They all appear to be made of the same (or very similar) closed hole polyester material. However, there is a substantial difference in the quality of the construction:

L/S Black made in Pakistan - never worn. After inspecting it closely I found that the stitching around the left side of the collar is faulty, there are loose threads everywhere, the cuffs are not pressed together, and the interior seams are well, sh*t.

S/S Black made in Pakistan - worn a few times. The left side of the collar is frayed and looks like sh*t. There are fewer loose threads, but the interior seams are still poor.

L/S Polo Blue made in USA - worn extensively during summer ball. No fraying, very few loose threads, no seam issues. It looks good.

S/S Powder Blue made in USA - never worn. No loose threads, no seam issues (why did I buy this shirt?)

I'm going to speculate and say that Honig's is unloading its Pakinsani made shirts at the discount price. My advice is to stay away from the Honig's shirt sale. If you must buy a Honig's shirt, make sure what you purchase says "Made in the USA."

If you read the website you will see that Honig's is closing out the 2010 shirts...which were made in Pakistan in favor of a new fabric for the 2011 shirts.

The 2010 shirts are available at the cheaper price. The 2011 ones are the ones being sold for $27...

The one for $27.95 is the 2011 version, hence the reason it says "NEW" in bold letters. The one for $18.95 is the 2010 version as someone has already pointed out. The ones they sold in 2010 are crap.

I've worn Smitty short sleeve and long sleeve shirts for two years now and they're still in great shape. They wrinkle less than any other shirt and fit better than any other shirt. You must be one of the college guys that refuses to believe that Honigs might sell an inferior product.

Not really. Every other brand I've worn besides Honigs fits the same. Dalco, Smitty, Majestic....I wear a Large behind the dish in all of those and a Medium on the bases. I have to wear an XL behind the dish and Large on the bases with the Honigs shirts. They are the "odd man out", not the rest of the brands.

Not really I like there service, I have never had a problem with there service. I have no problem buying a shirt some where else.. Heck I own 2 Officials choice shirts..and 2 Clif Kleen shirts.

I bouth my shirts 2 yrs ago and cost me 27 bucks.. also bought a shirt last year 27 bucks.. i h ave not had a problem with any of them, they all fit fine. I wear a XL in my regular everyday shirts and a L from Honigs for the plate..fits great..LOL

I understand Honigs targets most of America, heck they might have been around the longest..But I like service.. Ump-attire will give you good service as well.

I'm glad I found this website because I need to pick up a couple pair of pants because my "winter coat" is getting bigger. Been using Honig's Poly-wools for the last couple years and didn't even realize they were dry-clean only. They've survived probably 100 washings per year quite well actually. Finding out they were dry clean only nearly scared me away, but reading the testimonials convinced me to go ahead and order what I need. Oh, by the way, I only use Cliff Keen shirts. They wear like iron and they look the best. They are well worth the extra money.

I really wouldn't recommend machine washing the poly-wools. They very might well be fine, and not shrink up. I just wouldn't want to take the chance with $80 slacks.

Did you also put them in the dryer? Did they shrink on you at all? I mean, machine washable poly-wools would indeed be at the top of my Christmas list, and save us all a bunch of scratch each year. Anyone else out there do this?

I do have one pair that's nearing the end of it's life cycle, and might experiment with it later next year. If the shrink, I've got plenty of Junior umpires to donate them to.

I washed my poly-wools at home on the "gentle" cycle, with minimal detergent. After the wash cycle, I hung them up to air dry. Several guys in my association do this. I only had to wash them 1 time through out the season. After my season ended, I had them dry cleaned, so they will be ready for spring.

Washed them cold with minimum soap and dried them on low heat. No shrinkage and they came out neat and wrinkle free. No need to iron. Rest assured that I am extremely particular about my appearance.

I wash my polywools and use the drier with no special care. They have not shrunk and look great. As a matter of fact as a Chief in the Navy all my pants were Polywools and never had a problem with them either.

Add me to the group that machine washes the polywools. I have washed my plate and base pants for almost two years now with no shrinkage and they still look good. I don't put them in the dryer though....air dry only. I occasionally use an iron on them on a low setting to get them looking good and keep the crease sharp.

I wash the plate pants more often than the base pants, so I'm getting a new pair of plate pants before the spring rolls around.

Another good brand is Fechheimer. I was a Fech guy for most of the previous 20 years before I went to the poly-wools. The problem with Fechs? They don't make charcoal.
