If you think about it, a fair (or foul) ball has to be a batted ball. This wasn't one so it couldn't possibly be fair or foul.

One thing I always teach is whenever the ball hits the batter for reason, the ball is dead. What you do with it after that depends on what happens. You can have a strike, hit batter, batter running into a fair ball, all kinds of strange things. Here you have a guy swinging but getting hit. Dead ball, a strike and an out because it was strike three.

I had a player get hit in the face.... But he defiantly swung at the ball for strike 3. The coach asked if he could get a runner......

my last EJ was over something like this play. But it hit his hands on the swing. Called it immediately. Coach was ok with it since I called it as soon as it happened. Player, not to much. Argued and got dumped. Coach was ok with that too :spit:

I'd probably do something like this:

"TIME!"

*tap forearm* "HIT HIS FOREARM!"

*give out signal* "THAT'S STRIKE THREE! BATTER'S OUT!"

*wait patiently for coach to come talk to me*
