I'm glad I DV recorded the game so I could replay this call. After 17 infrared replays on my 46-inch high definition screen, using a magnifying glass, it appeared that four of the stitches on the baseball actually nicked the tip of the sole of Beltre's shoe, and then broke apart this dirt clog and rolled to the third baseman. Obvious foul. I can't believe nobody saw it or heard it.

I know it's hard to get subtlety sometimes but I am noting a tad bit of sarcasm in your post. :question1::angel4: I could be wrong, maybe just how I read it. :yippie:

The funny thing is that while fans are pissing and moaning about this "horrible" no-call, it probably would have been inconclusive had they used instant replay.

I think we have our pick from Layne's called strike on Berkman that Buck mischaracterized as a foul tip (pitch f/x confirms the strike call was correct) and the Beltre trap in the first inning, which Buck called live as a catch, wondering why Beltre threw to first base to record the out. Of course, they show the replay and Beltre fields the liner, looks back at Kulpa to see "safe," and throws to first for the out. Buck views the replay and admits it was a trap, then proceeds to accuse the umpires of blowing the call... Kulpa ruled no catch...

And you expected something different from *uck, and Timmy McDouchebag ?! :)

I sent an email to Fox Sports asking what braniac came up with the infrared. I told them it needs to go, another useless piece of technology that does nothing.

Geez, Michael, I beg to differ.

It indeed does something: It makes baseball purists want to hurl.

And one other thing: I don't know if I speak for everyone, but I don't need an @ss shot of every home run hitter as he trots home and touches the plate. So, once and for all, will the powers that be please have non-uniformed personnel like cameramen STAY THE F- - - OFF THE FIELD!!

This just in from He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named regarding R3 Kinsler hit by a foul ball.

That's why runners lead off in foul territory. If that ball had hit him in fair territory, the batter would be out and the batter credited with a base hit.

He did correct himself afterward.

Great safe call by Kulpa when Kinsler stole second in the 9th. That was damn close and he nailed it. Funny how umpires aren't noticed until they're "awful" all of a sudden when something doesn't go someone's way.

I agree w/ both Kevin and zm...Mac just wouldn't let it go that the horse$hit throw "nicked" Pujols glove therefore should be an error...the problem is that people watching actually listen this idiot. The 20 replays showing B/R 1/2 way to 2b because nobody was covering first had nothing to do w/ the fact that he was able to get to 2b. Also, yes, I loved the correct safe call from Kulpa on Kinsler's steal. He got very close to the play. A big advantage of 4 man.

McGarbler tried to pin an error on Albert for not gloving a throw from center that he would have had to dive to cut off.

Kevin, you should know this by now ...

it's Tim McDouchebag

Albert was way out of position for a cutoff. Mental error for sure.

Agreed plus it was not a good throw (not bad either -- just fair) and it was good baserunning. Took all of those to make a difference. JUst one example of the really fine line in baseball in general and especially at this level between a win and a loss.

Since it was the only inning of any game this post season Ive been able to watch I was a little disappointed that they didnt bring out the infrared camera to sho the ball hitting the glove.

Albert is not moving like he should, There is a chance that he couldn't execute the movement without hurting himself further. That's what was happening out there. He's hurt. No mental error; no physical error ... a hurt athlete.

(good infrared joke by the way)

We may not see a worse call than Kulpa's horrible call at first at the back end of the double play. Holliday almost got concussed and hobbled he was hammered so hard, and the sledge-hammer tag occurred a full stride before Holliday hit the bag.

And I'm not just saying this because I picked Kulpa.
