I know what it is but that doesn't explain why you have sparks coming off of it.

Someone mentioned in another thread (mine ... "this can't be right"....in the equipment forum) that it could have been a static charge, etc ....

Let's face it, .... a baseball (leather) can't cause "sparks" ...

Unless, ...maybe, .... Benoit had just used rosin, ...and the particulate from that and the ball hit the mask just right to cause it?

Leather is getting too expensive in this economy, they have resorted to a cheaper metallic ball.

So are you saying that Nike masks fall in the same boat as their bats? They need to stick with shoes? Nike Bats are not good

I have seen titanium golf clubs (drivers especially) give off sparks when they are swept across the ground on a swing. I don't know if this is related at all, but I would hardly call that a sweeping blow!

If I was a betting man....I would say that the chemical/metallic content of the rubbing mud ( Lena Blackburne Baseball Rubbing Mud) used to rub the baseballs, and the titanium surface of the mask may have had something to do with it.

I was thinking there must have been some particulate in the ball maybe something stuck in the seams.
