I just got done formatting and printing up a couple of doz. tripscore cards for my wallet in preperation for the season to come. Just to give you the details I print on the back side of an index card so there is a full index card on the flip side that is being unused. My wife walks in and says to me "so what are you going to use the reverse side for???? cheater notes....

So I got thinking to myself, what would be the proper use of the reverse side of this tripindex card? Cheater notes, hand signals, mechanics, funny limerick or soft porn pics?

Porn.

keep your spirits up when the parents are ridin' ya.

I usually jot down the coaches' names on the backside, if I don't know them, along with any funky ground rules or medical conditions.

I don't keep score. That is the scorekeepers job.

Coaches names, trips, warnings etc, are noted on back of line-ups.

If the game does not have line-up cards, I just use a blank 3x5 card.

Watch putting porn on the blank side. Could get you in trouble, especially youth ball.

Since I'm not sure what you put on the front I will tell what I put on the back of my line-up cards. I fold my lineups up so I write the name of the team on the top. Then I write F1 and F2 on each so I can write the number of the CR beside the appropreate fielder. I track mound visits and offensive timeouts. Last, track all major points of an ejection.

I scribble the coaches names directly on the line up card.

I have a plastic card which came with an older Honigs line up card holder I use for trips CR....

The most important thing to to develop a system which works for you and keep it going. Make sure you can read it and in a moment tell who was in the game trips just incase the game is suspended or who knows what.

Get a lineup wallet and the bullet pencil will live in there, I've used the same one for three years. I broke it right at the end of last season and replaced it at the clinic the other week. I bought a pack of five, should last at least a decade.

I feel different. I use a pen. Last year, I found a pen that was about 3" long -- works great.

I have tried both pencil and pen, and i prefer the pen. I found the Pilot G2 retractable mini is perfect. Its the size of the bullet pencil. Great size for shirt pocket and small enough that I carry an extra one in my ball bag.

The reason I use a pencil is the line-up wallet I use has a place in it to track visits and I can erase the pencil off of it. Other than that I can't see a big advantage either way and it's what you prefer.

For lineup sheets/cards, I use a pen which fits very nicely in the little middle slot of my ball bag. I have golf pencils or bullet pencils to mark by game sheets which are also in my portfolio.

Seems like the lineup sheets get bigger and bigger- I like to fold them and place the team in 3rd base dugout in my left pocket and 1st base dugout in my right pocket. I also carry a Davis pocket lineup holder but that stays in my shirt pocket and is used as a writing surface.

That's the one I use as well.
