Holy Hell!! Maybe my Miners have a chance this year after all!!

If you wind up spending that much time in the classroom, and you have a few first timers, I would spend a moment or two talking about dehydration and other things of the nature they should watch out for. It wouldn't be good if a kid's first tournament turned out to be his last.

I am 5'11" and when I started upiring I weighed in the 280 lb range. It was about this time I bought me a gold chest protector and it fit me quite well. Last time I used it I was in the 325 lb range and the thing still fit. I've done a lot of games (both baseball and fastpitch at all different age ranges) and have taken many different shots, and though they sometimes knock back a bit, I still get back in there with no fear that my equipment is protecting me right. With this protector I've gotten adequate coverage on my ribs with only my beer gut hanging below (but there's enough padding in that area to do the job already). That's my take on the gold.

Wouldn't this sort of be the same as a person wearing a gold chain while on the mound? It's deemed distracting to the batter.

I haven't really had any cheaters but I have had a lot of people that have stretched the rules about as far as they can without truely breaking them. Hell, I've even done it a few times with my slow-pitch pitching.

You gotta love that Wii dont' ya?? I remember i used to play my little sister in tennis on it, get my buttox whipped, and then be sore for the rest of the week.

Well now that the off-season is here (or almost here for some) it is time to make sure that after I squat down for my first game next season I am still able to stand back up after that first pitch. What do you do to keep in shape in the off season?

I just hate that it's the harvest season, so now my weekends are filled with 20 hour days driving tractor.

There shouldn't be a need for less than two balls to be used because I believe it is written in there that at the beginning of the game each pitcher should start with a new ball. Typically the coaches in this area give one ball to their pitcher to start with, a couple of balls for the umpire's bag, and then one ball to the opposing pitcher to start the game. I know in fastpitch it is considered the ball-rotation rule. I can't remember if they put any special name on it in baseball, or if it is just a generalization that has been practiced in the area.

Weren't we just talking about this a little while back with the picture of the pins!!

Only one I've used is the video put out by the ASA for slow and fastpitch softball. Oh, and a NIRSA video, but unless you are needing something to put you to sleep, I wouldn't recomment the NIRSA video.

Hell, I've seen a batter be called out on a balk because the batter at the plate gave him a "high-5" before he crossed the plate. We lost by one run that game and it was our home umpires.

Maybe he should try and make some real money and get the W tattooed on his forehead. I've seen it done!

I'm kinda digging the design of the new umpire helmet from Wilson. I know Worth sporting goods has been implementing the same design into the new batting helmets with cages on the front, so I have seen what this little shock system can do. The only thing that scares me about it is the price ($200+ for the titanium model). Oh well! Guess that means I'll need to pick up some guaranteed games for next year. As for pants, there are only three items that I look for in them. They must be able to stretch and give me a few more inches (that way I can choose to wear them to Thanksgiving dinner if I really wanted to), they must be extremely tough in the seat (don't want the mom of the first baseman seeing my snoopy underwear that I'm wearing that day), and they must have multiple strong clasps holding them together in the front (been there done that). If they meet those requirements, game on!!

Haha.....what a perfect commercial for axe!!

The sports science video may make me change my mind. Guess we'll find out next season!!

I didn't get to watch game 5. Damn night classes!!

The whole issue is really that NYY did not appeal the play. Regardless of the safe call or not. What's the worst that they could have been told? No?
-
I have had no problems with my shock doctor and would really like to try out the knew titan model.
-
I know that in softball we are supposed to signal safe. I think it is kind of like the missed first base call we spoke of a while back. The runner is safe after he crosses the bag unless appealed if I remember correctly. I still believe that if NY had appealed then they would have gotten the appeal call.

Judging by the picture, one thing is sure. If you are going to wear regular pants, you better find a matching pair of underwear!!
