For what I'd read in the ABUA website they suggest to go with the smaller version in relation to your measurment. So to make it simple for you, 16.5". They are a solid piece of equipment that I will use even for College Baseball. That's how much confidence I have in the product. But always remember that is your decision which one to get, but get it. Do you have to be an ABUA member to buy their equipment? They have their chest protector discounted about $100 when you buy their shins. "If" you are an ABUA member (I believe any level above the free membership) - you can get the chest protector and shin guard package for $254.95 + $9.95 shipping, which puts the set in the same price range as buying a Wilson Gold CP and the Wilson Gold shin guards - for comparison.

It is for sale elsewhere - so it is what it is - I won't likely go to eBay, because of the fees associated I have plenty of heart and donations throughout the year Bump

I get what you are saying - if you like silver masks I think you might like this one, but it is like many custom things - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

@h92064 Were any of the masks ZRO-G? I wanted an opinion on them. Yes - I have 2 +pos masks - one zro-g and one magnesium (the mag is currently my every game mask) I like the zro-g mask a lot and would recommend it to anyone - I like it so much I had mine re-powder coated in the off season and offer it for sale if you are interested (the short coming of the zro-g like many other mass produced items is that the factory powder coating is "not" great). I think +pos has a clearance sale that includes the zro-g which is a great deal if it is still offered.

My experience with synthetic/vinyl pads (my first mask had vinyl pads) vs leather pads is exactly what you are talking about - in that - vinyl/synthetic pads "do" get slippery with sweat because the material is not pourous, meaning, the sweat beads up on top of the pad surface. Leather tends to absorb some, not all, sweat, under the same circumstances, and leather pads do "not" get slippery. With proper care leather pads will last for years. Many guys will recommend that you go with team Wendy's pads for the best protection, so consider that, but, team wendys pads are covered in a material, which many guys with your same concerns (irritating the face) say team wendympads do "not" do. One suggestion - buy a set of team Wendy's pads and try em - wash them in a perforated laundry bag - give em a couple games of use - and see for yourself - worst case is you sell em to someone here - almost guaranteed.

"what happened to +pos" ? I have experience with +pos similar to JoHart Dan @ +pos can be tough to get in touch with, but, I have been very pleased with everything I have received from today's +pos, including 2 masks and 4 shirts/jerseys. In a couple of instances issues occurred, but Dan made it right every time. So, I recommend buying from +pos - but - if you need gear quick, you would be best served to purchase elsewhere.

I've had a pair for years; not low profile, but awesome protection. The Douglas shin guards look great, and they are reportedly lighter than the Wilsons, & one can readily see the design similarities between Douglas and the Wilson Platinums - but for me - it would be tough if not impossible to spend twice the money on the Douglas guards - currently $169.95 vs. $79.95 (Douglas vs Wilson) So - Douglas is offering arguably the same "best" protection available, with the trade-off that seems to be a slight edge to Douglas for reportedly slightly lower-profile, for lighter weight (no idea what the actual weight difference is), and for re-condition-ability - at a purchase cost though - twice the price (Douglas over Wilson WV Platinum Charcoal). Happy shopping.

Following along with the previous comments - -- I believe you would be hard-pressed to get a better bang for your all-around buck, combining value, protection, and relatively low-profile, than what the West Vest Pro Platinum Charcoal shin guards (A3417) offer. The one small (in my opinion) concession is that these guards are on the heavier side, but, the protection is second to none. With current Holiday sales opportunities - prices for the WV Pro Platinum shin guards are consistently $79.95 - $89.95 + shipping - so my suggestion would be to find the best out the door price and order up WV Pro Platinum shin guards. Your mileage may vary.....

I ordered a set of Team Wendys mask pads from Honigs online, last Sunday afternoon during the sale, and it is scheduled to be delivered today (ground shipping across the country - Michigan to California) I believe all Honigs online orders come out of Ann Arbor, Mi., which I believe is the "parent" store, so, if someone wants to order stuff directly from your nearest Honigs, I believe you have to call your nearest Honigs directly, and, only then will you find out if sales or specials are from all stores, or just the Mi. store. (I believe the stores outside of Mi. are franchises, not subsidiaries, but I might be wrong)
