  1. Nelson is the man. You know his shirts sleeves are done custom so that they dont go all the way down to the elbow. He is a innovator of equipment and uniform just as much as anyone else IMHO
  2. MLB practitioners have said that it is un-safe. You create a tri-pod with you face being the most forward point. When you take a blow there you are more susceptible to concussions. All the energy travels back and jams up because you have no way to dis-purse that energy due to your stance. Rather than having the ability to fall clear backwards in the box if the blow is hard enough.
  3. how much for the helmet?
  4. Are the style the stop just under the knee, or mid calf?
  5. I have a few different types of socks I like to wear when working the dish. I tagged a couple of type but what are peoples preferences?
  6. I saw one partner of mine do this before, does this really work? BTW, I will start carrying extra socks. I did a one sock game on Sunday, I was quite off balance. Absolutely, I wont do it any other way! I cant stand have creases and I actually put my ball bags and belt in the pants before i put them on just so I know I never miss a loop and dont have to ask anyone to check for me! Also my shoes are a little big so I wear two pairs of socks. It's makes them a much more comfortable fit, a little tip from one of my mentors.
  7. where can someone find one of these?
  8. you have to try putting the shoes and shins on then put the pants on, that way they wont get creased or wrinkled
  9. Agreed, we are not players! Some umpire shoes have better soles than others. I have NB shoes, but am interested in the reebok the seem to have a much better design for their shoes.

    Fake to third

Just to clear up the question in my mind, when a LHP jump turns for a pickoff at 3rd and doesn't throw he is by rule still in contact with the rubber or at least should be, he has to complete that throw as well correct?
  11. I should have specified but I was looking for a black version of that throat protector. I had no idea those protectors where so expensive, that and the Nike masks seem to be ridiculously over priced!
  12. It will be an interesting transfer but one that I believe will be well worth it! All lot of the guys in my association are pretty set in their ways and are not a big fan of the HSM. However their starting to become a little more popular will the younger generation and some of the older guys are starting to come around. I am excited for it though!
  13. Ok that is exactly they type of response I was looking for! Thanks for being so specific. I am at the borderline with some of these legion players and college pitchers, I think the answer is MVP4000. Thanks for everyones help! Cody
  14. I have had some luck on ebay, never craigslist though.
  15. Obviously the All-Star is the clear winner, but has anyone tried both the MVP2500 and the MVP4000 and if so is it worth the extra money?
  16. I use the traditional style right now and tried the Wilson for one game and loved how the viewing window was so much wider. I also noticed how much it helped with keeping me cooler. Never have tried the all-star, but I know you can fit a hat underneath and that would defeat the purpose of keeping you cool I assume.
  17. I would like to get some opinions on which is the better helmet. Wilson shock FX 2.0 titanium/steel vs. All-stars system seven
  18. I use CW-X ventilator tights. They have kinesiology bands that help you muscles and knees functions. I some times work 3 or 4 games in a day and can tell the difference when I forget them at home. Not to mention its a great cooling product as well. http://www.amazon.com/CW-X-Mens-Length-Ventilator-Tights/dp/B001GAPYPO
  19. THANKS. This site is a god send! Everything I need all on one site.
  20. Hello All, New to the site but have been umpire for quite some time now! I will be attending the 2014 TUS session, and I really do hope to get somewhere in pro baseball. 21 years old from the twin cities in Minnesota. I would consider my self a knowledgeable umpire in rules mechanics and equipment. It blows my mind how umpiring has become an obsession of mine so quickly. I work Junior college, American Legion, Varsity, and amateur baseball. Looking to get all the information I can from anyone regarding anything umpire related. If you have been to school I would love to pick your brain. Every other dedicated umpire the same goes to you! Cody Loe
