  1. Here are my two masks.
  2. Ok, take your kid with you
  3. I once stopped a game on an open field (no outfield fence) because the school track team had their javelin throwers out in the outfield practicing. They didn't have javelin throwing when I was in HS.....
  4. At our association meeting Wednesday night we were shown a video. In this video they introduced a concept, that of 'rimming' (search for that in google for a laugh). 2 Man - Nobody on, base hit in the gap (maybe a 2b or 3base hit?) , Ump in A makes a bee line to second while on the dirt, outside of the baseline. PU makes a bee line up the 1st baseline to about the 45 line. As I understood it, U1 will cut in front of BR to get in position for the play at 2nd and then move to 3rd if BR heads there? PU will watch BR touch at first then head back to the plate. Anyone ever used this mechanic? I was always under the impression rimming was bad.
  5. Nightmares about the score or calling the game early?
  6. I'm curious about the 'keep your hands behind your back' part of this. Why are you trained to do that? If a coach is in my face, I'm keeping my hands up and available. I won't push him but if he swings I can defend myself.
  7. Personally, when I do 'daddy ball' I don't warn. I eject, and eject, and eject....eventually they will learn or it will be very very quiet
  8. More about one baseball brand that wanted a corner on the high school market??
  9. Keep checking your balls all game long
  10. I worked with a young catcher who would rip his helmet off and fling it back toward me, just to throw the ball back to the pitcher. I nipped that in the damn bud.
  11. It looks like there are 200 players on the field
  12. Yep, the old saying, 'no good deed goes unpunished'. We tried to do good and give the coach a chance to fix the problem instead of just warning, then tossing the offenders. The thing I have learned over the years is, it's better to eject early then wait, because waiting only will make it worse.
  13. Do the rules include a section that allows a player/coach/manager to argue balls and strikes just because the call was wrong? I must have missed that memo
  14. Again, the catcher pulled the glove back into the zone. So he must have felt it was low?
  15. Is there such a thing?
  16. Is it my imagination or have they all gone insane this year? It's really quite simple, you argue balls and strikes you get ej'd....
  17. Damn Gardy is sure getting to be a cranky old man
  18. I love the way Chad handled Dave Roberts, comes charging out and he shuts him down. "Are you charging me? Really??" Roberts is lucky he didn't get tossed too.

    Balk

    That's a balk
  20. In fact, I had a HS catcher who was crowding the inside corner and blocking me off. I told the coach why I wasn't called the inside pitch, nothing changed, and that pitch wasn't called all day. So yes, if it's not a strike, it must be a ball. Apparently the strike wasn't as important as intimidating the batter, who knows.
  21. Thanks for your opinion, coach.
  22. Sure coach, he was telling me that he doesn't understand girls....and coaches....I was telling him it gets better as he gets older, with girls.
  23. Sorry Coach - can't call strikes if I can't see them...too bad for you
