I would of called a balk, pitcher cannot be anywhere on the dirt circle on the mound without the ball. thats what ive always gone on and i believe its in the MLB rule book too.

we use an open or closed fist to indicate to our partner what we saw, such as a D3K or a clean catch. to help each other out when we can't see it clearly.

Oh sorry. Yes he would be standing in the way, but there was no play coming to the plate. There was no need for him to throw his hands up the way he did and he could of touched and went towards the dugout.

How wrong is it when the guy that is doing the scorebook is also the same guy that umpires with your organization? Good toss. I hate listening to that as well. but i've developed selective hearing in the 4.5 years i've umpired :D

The Catcher was in the back of the left hander's batters box about 3 feet away from the plate. does that answer your question? he was behind the plate. not preventing the runner to the plate.

Baseball is baseball. Being a pitcher requires you to be on your toes and be ready for a comebacker. Metal bats or wood bats isn't going to be a big difference. Its tragic what happened, but your sueing baseball because you allow your kid to play. Nobody should be at fault. Just like the lady that sued the 10yr old because he overthrew the pitcher in the bullpen, and she was sitting at a picnic table behind the bullpen. It hit her in the face and she sued the kid because he was careless. That is ridiculous. The things that happen now-a-days is unreal.

13-14U Game, Runners on 1st and 2nd, 2 outs. Ground ball to the 2nd baseman, that goes under his glove, Runner on 2nd comes around 3rd and comes to score. The Catcher is standing in the left handed batters box, about 3 feet from the plate. The runner comes around touches home plate, takes 2 steps throws his arms up at the catcher and shoves him. Catcher stands his ground, I eject the runner because 1) unsportmanlike and 2) I felt as he was intentionally going for the catcher. There was no play that was going to happen at the plate. ( Shortstop held the ball at 2nd) The coach try to say that the runner, his son, has every right to run over the catcher if he is in the baseline. I counted the run because he scored before the incident, but i believe the ejection was warranted. was it neccessary? did i handle it right? comments? suggestions for next time?

Missed Tag; Dropped Ball; Good Call.. The only thing I am not sure of is out of baseline. I don't think so in my judgement but, I could be wrong. :shrug:

what do you mean safe on principle? Why did F5 chase him all the way back to the bag? F3 was standing on 2d. I've seen 8 year olds execute a rundown better than that. It better to have the runner safe/out at 2nd instead of him possibly at 3rd or even scoring.

what is wrong with this? He called what he saw, i can see where he could be blocked and not see a tag. He asked for help, the umpire that has the opposite side of the play, and he's 100% sure he saw a tag, why wouldn't you overturn this? Coach is stupid for getting ejected. I am sure U3 told him what he saw and U2 probably said I was blocked from the fielder and didn't see the fielder make a tag.

Should be out for sliding head first into first base anyways its not like it gets you there any faster?

Is this right at 10secs? This is exactly the picture that I paused on that i didnt see a tag when the heel was on the corner of the plate.

doesn't the runner create his own baseline, so technically braun isn't avoiding a tag? and still hasn't touched 2nd? so wouldn't he still have to either touch 2nd and pass R1 to be called out or be tagged by the fielder?

I was in the field and my partner was behind the plate. its a 3-2 count with 2 outs. the pitch is inside, the batter moves out of the way. In the process my partner calls strike 3 for the batter swinging at the pitch (the batter swung it around, in my judgement to try and hit it). The 3rd base coach tried to argue saying that he wasn't making an attempt to swing at the ball and just bringing the bat around. I felt his intentions were to swing just as my partner had. has anyone had this happened and understand what i am trying to say?

Would this be considered a good rotation or bad. 2-man mechanics. No Runners, BT hits a ground ball to left side, BU goes to B, batter rounds first and digs for 2. throw goes by 2nd baseman, runners go to 3 and gets in a pickle. PU is at 3rd, BU is at 2nd. In the pickle, the ball goes by again and the runner heads toward third. Instead of the HP umpire backpedaling home, BU shouts "I got 4, I got 4!" BU rotates towards home, around the mound, the PU stays at 3rd. PU makes the call out at 3.
