I guess once again I offended some of you.... well sorry.. But really do you need all that equipment, I mean we all have our fav CP, and only wear that one.. but hey i have 4 more in my closet just incase the Zombie invasion happens. Some of you say you go to formal training.... what formal training is that Umpire school? that might be the closet thing to formal in the umpire world. Yeah maybe you go to a few clinics, but still... IMHO that CP is not suited well for umpires that work games in kids who attend college. I do categorize people, everyone does it... like i said if the shoe fits.......

What do the police officers say who wear Kevlar to protect their heart from bullets? ok.. askl Jim Evans about his bruise that he got from Wearing that vest in the video... i dont get a bruise from wearing mine.. But you guys are funny.. ( i have 4 Cp, 4 mask and 3 SG).. no idea why you need all that,,, but cant afford to go to clinics..LOL I have all that and more AND also attend 3-4 formal clinics a year. @Haid D' Salaami .... while I understand your comment ..... @JaxRolo makes a point, and that is; not everyone falls under the category of your comment Your right.. And he wasn't sure where that rumor started. Games worked 24 Ok.. well i'm friends with one of the instructors who was there at the video shoot... so ....

Ok so maybe the UE CP looks cool, feels cool.. but when you get hit, it's going to hurt... I have a hard shell plastic Cp.. i got hit last weekend.. maybe 92mph.. nothing i feel it cause well it hit me, but it did not hurt... Think about your life and protection versus looking cool.. would you wear shin guards that were not hard plastic? I bet not, so why different for the equipment that is over your heart ( hello) and ribs?

The shin guards are great, i bought them from a guy on here.. they are light and move around well.

So it seems like most of the people are looking for low profile versus protection... doesnt make sense to me....my og west vest with hard plastic will not come out ever.

The mask looks like garbage.. i didnt like the feel either... i will not add this to my wish list anytime soon... Nor will i add the chest protector.... the Shin guards feel great.

I only need the shine for 15 minutes... the 10 when i walk out to the field, the 1st impression is all that matters. after the 1st pitch then no biggie.

I've already called 7 games.. 3 D2..and 4 JUCO.. i had to tell a few coaches about the new rule, they had no idea ( or at least they said that)... I had 2 HBP one on a check swing, the other in the leg way in the batters box... 1 guy i keep in the box cause he did roll into it. like midamump said, your judgment is differnet than mine. but to the guy who kept the batter in the box on a high and inside fastball that he turned and took it... Look sometimes you dont have time to turn and get away, sometimes it is all you can do... but did the batter intentionally roll into it? If not.. give him 1st.

Yes, that one added this; Following the ejection, the coach refuses to leave the field in a timely manner, even after a warning from the plate umpire. Which of the statements are true regarding the penalties for the coach's actions? I have that as: He is ejected and must serve an additional two game suspension for the prolonged arguing. I think the head coach gets reduced suspension rules due to his status as head coach. yes.. Unless he prolongs it like he did in this Sit.... he gets 2 games suspension.

I would follow exactly what NCAA wants and not the Wendlestedt manual... It can lead to a protest if ( i use this term loosely) the coach knows the rules.

this is just the ejection.. there is another question that the coach spikes, then doesnt leave in a timely manner.. that is the game suspension.

Like i said.. BR cant get 1st.. cause the 1st part of the balk rule wasnt meet... the runner, and Batter didnt advance on the HBP.. so unfortunate as it is, the batter comes back to bat... sorry that you got hit and do not get to advance to 1st because of that, but we had a balk and the only person who gets to move is your runner at 2nd.

not to be mean, but really.. on a balk, the runners always advance a base.. always. that is the 1st part of the balk rule...LOL

R2 not stealing, F1 balks and delivers the pitch the umpire correctly calls it, the pitch hits the batter.... a. Award R2 3rd, batter awarded 1st. b. coach gets the option to take the balk or hit again c. R2 stays at 2nd batter awarded 1st d.R2 awarded 3rd, and BR stay at bat.

Wait, what? You would only ever kill the play on a CI close to the moment of the CI when it's a swing and a miss, and even though then maybe not if its an I caught 3rd strike and the BR allowed to attempt to reach first. You're going to call time on a CI when the ball's been hit and there's still the potential that the BR managed to hit safely, and enforce the lesser of the two penalties? The balk rule specifically allows for ignoring the balk if the offence manages to meet or exceed what would have been the penalty enforced. (Just like CI as well.) Though there are situations where the CI penalty doesn't achieve that, with bases loaded it does. I'd point out that in this situation it's entirely possible that a base umpire calls the balk and the plate umpire calls the CI and neither is aware of the other's call, or at least not certain of it. Given the OP, it'd probably be best to leave the ball in play until it was thrown out. Crew gets together, confirms what everyone had and be able to sort it all out. I'd also suggest from a game management perspective that - particularly at lower levels of competition - when talking to the OC you make sure they're aware it's a choice between the balk and the CI, and not everything else that happened. The result of the CI may be subject to a rule BUT it was interference - an illegal act - kill it and eliminate the Cluster *&%$. No you can not do this.. you have to leave it live.. what if the ball drops and everyones advances a base... you killed and you were wrong... let it play out just like the post from Umpschool said.. then award the bases... And @ Rich.. CI is not a dead ball by rule.. it is a delayed dead ball.. if the batter and runners advance CI is ignored.

I understand what your saying.. But I've been at some pretty big D1 schools.. not once has any one ever said " hey your pants are hemmed where we can see them?" Look i spent 9 yrs in the Military, I notice a ton about appearance, and I'm very big on that, but if his pants are hemmed and they look good, at the end of the day when it comes down to 2 umpires the assigners or Evaluator's aren't going to say "well if his pants were hemmed so we couldnt see them, i'd put him in for a postseason assignment" But to each their own, i know how my pants are hemmed..

I cant tell you that you are completely wrong... i know personally CWS umpires and regionals D1 umpires who's hem is showing... who ever told you that might want to sell you some waterfront property in AZ.
