  1. Congrats to Gabe Morales, Pat Hoberg, Adam Hamari, and Carlos Torres. all have been hire full time by MLB. Great Job guys
  2. Go Hawks!!! Beat the Lions... I've already bought tickets for the game in Atlanta
  3. tell us the difference... for a catch we must have secure and firm Possession and voluntary release.. so what is it for a Tag? do we not need secure possession?
  4. This is the same call that happen in the Oklahoma State game in week 2.. but no one went to court,, the Officials were suspended 3 weeks.
  5. we played poker, or cards almost every night and read the rule book at the same time. music, i listen to music everywhere, at lunch i would go to the car put on some jams.. come back out ready to go. Food at both places is not anything to worry about ( MiLB school has a dinning facility on campus) .. Harry's has a restaurant in the hotel and lunch is catered everyday, except Sundays, there are some many places to eat in Daytona that it's a non issue. Laundry at Harry's is tough cause its a hotel and there were only 3 washers and 3 dryers, but across the street was a laundromat that washed and folded your stuff for a really good price. let me know what other questions you have.
  6. Is there a link for a way to order these?
  7. They .. MiLB.. but if you talk to the Big guys on the west Coast.. AKA the CWS umpires .. they want you to...I will say the same as you... I will not agree or disagree.LOL
  8. yes this is the same.. but in the last play you talked about.. U1 has to get a good angle for the play at 1st.. Be careful to not leave to early for the play at 1st.. if they throw back at 2nd, you'll be out of position cause you over committed to the play at 1st... does that make sense?
  9. this is referred to rimming.. But like i said... practice it in a scrimmage a few times.. once you get it down, it's easy to use.
  10. yes.. but what Midamump told you is a little advance move... do it if you feel comforable.. if not go inside and take the play from the cutout...
  11. Ok.. Look.. U3 is already indide in the "C" position, U1 is on the 1st baseline. so as U1 you have 3 choices 1. Go to the coaches box on the 1st base side. 2. Go out 3. Go inside and take BR these are your only choices.. So if we pregames and were going to as U1 take Br into 2nd base, no i have 2 choices .. GO OUT, OR GO IN... it is that simple.
  12. I just got so confused by what you said... 1. Do you mean with no runners on base? 2. we were talking about R2 & R3
  13. Pros'... It puts a umpire at Home, 3rd and 2nd... it keeps R2 boxed in, just in case that 1 in 100 play where he gets about 3/4's of the way home and decide to turn around and head back towards 3rd, we now have a umpire at 3rd. Con's.. you have to read this as a true double, if not the 2 base umpires can get confused as to who's call on the BR and sandwich in the middle of the infield and possibility have 2 calls at 2nd base. The key is Read( your partner and the fielders), Pause (to see if the other umpire is gonna go out), and react.. then see what the BR is going to do. and mostly ( i communicate verbally pretty loud) to my partner.. "Slide, Slide, I'm coming in" just so he knows I am now responsible for BR at 1st and 2nd.
  14. R2 & R3. ... I stand corrected .. My 2 D1 coordinators don't want us too. My bad.
  15. This is not a CCA approved Mechanic
  16. Actually the 1stbase umpire should come inside to the cutout , just in case U3 decides to go late, then U1 will take BR into 2nd, and or 3rd. If U3 stays in, U1 can then ( keeping his shoulders to the ball ) turn and go across the foulline and head home ( when BR commits to 3rd).. it's taught int he MiLB .. it s really good thing to start doing.. just incase that 1 in 100 play where U3 decides to go out late.
  17. we got paid more than that...LOL it was a monthly rate.. about the same as a guy who is in Rookie leagues.
  18. Nobody is gonna talk about this one?.. I thought it was a good call, easy...and the EJ was great as No one.. No one like AJ http://m.mlb.com/video/v954251083/?query=ejection
  19. you cant call a quick pitch if he doesnt pitch the ball right?
  20. But you dont have the same angle.. so really just lied... as U3 there is no way possible with no runners on base and your coming across the infield dirt you can have the same angle.
  21. love it.. I think you and I are the only ones who agree.
  22. The play was when the runner slid in, after the ball got away and he ran home.. this is not a " play" ( attempting to tag a runner or throwing the ball for a force out is a play) for rules purposes.. they ( defense) would have to get the ball back and try to throw him out.. chasing after a ball which has passed a fielder IS NOT A PLAY, IT'S AN ERROR.
  23. in LL.. high school.. college.. Pro ball..... if you read and understand the rule... you'll get this right.
  24. this is not a play being made on a runner... this is the other type of OBS... the ball was missed by 3rd basemen.. and when the runner got up to run, he was obstructed.. same play as in the world series a few yrs ago.. play is live, and if need be you can award the runner home if he was tagged out
  25. No it's not a mechanical Doctrine. It's just something guys do.. like Midamump said.. " answer the question before they ask" and I only do it on close pitches.
