Cowboy wisdom comes into play here: "never miss a good opportunity to shut up." Also, something from my transportation safety engineering prof (paraphrase): "we can't get the stupid out of the system when poorly trained operators exist" (this applies to the untrained in baseball) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

When does an umpire take action on a pitcher who hits batters
cyclonehokiece replied to a question in Ask the Umpire
Absent of a rule and if the beanballs are not intentional, you can do nothing. Just nip the whining in the bud. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I thought of putting up the YouTube clip of Billy Madison "I give you no points and may God have mercy on your soul" but then I thought that would be overkill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Its a sad day for baseball

MLB yes, MiLB it is not, enforceable by fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
@ljvavs That was not meant to be personal. It was to caution you and others about announcing suspensions because I have seen powers that be not enforce minimum suspensions for one reason or another. I understand that you league has a rule that official books must report ejections. That is fine, remind her that she must report, but leave the suspension out of it unless that is part of the reporting requirement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Very sad. Also, a poster child of what spit tobacco can do to you (Gwynn himself admitted his cancer was probably caused by it) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
You were right on handling in how I read it. If you do kill it because you feel the player is in immediate danger and must be attended to immediately, you are now god. You determine what would of happened with awarding bases and outs (although I would never assume a catch as read here or a double play). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wish there was more. But both umps said the ball is dead when it hit the runner. Made no sense to me. I didn't get a chance to ask them post game but I see them often and I will certainly get their interpretation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

After an ejection and I file my report it is out of my hands. It is up to the powers that be. Although in my report I would write that I learned of the disability after the ejection in a footnote. Also, I wouldn't inform a coach of potential suspensions, that is out of my hands and not my responsibility. The powers that be should inform the coach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As was stated in the mandatory ethics training for my day job, the perception of conflict of interest is just about as bad as an actual conflict of interest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just for full explanation, the rule @maven cited works when the unreported sub is a legal sub. If the player is not eligible, it is an illegal sub, punishable by ejection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think the local league has to update their rules and/or issue an official interpretation. This should be a case that should be spelled out if you want the teams to use CBO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
