  1. You're right. There's not much more I can say--the rule says complete stop. That means everything must be stopped at the same point in time.
  2. "You know what else I can't see? You sticking around for the rest of the game."
  3. Sigh...one of these years, the pants will return. (And yes, I will whine about this on every UA thread.)
  4. If it was an NFHS game he was just trying to follow the rules on having to have one haha. He is lucky I was not his partner since I never carry one when on the bases. He would have been screwed. I carry 3 at all times, 1was a gift 2 I got loaned from my league last season then they nerged into a bigger league I joined their umpires but the old league never collected them from any of us How do you make sure they all have the same count?
  5. Bauers and Davishins. Prefer the Bauers because I have mids--the Davishins stuck out. Been hit with one pitch on the ankle--smarted a bit, but the shoe is good enough.
  6. There is very little difference between these and the Davishins. I have both.
  7. It is not its caught, by am unmaned glove though Is it? The implied task that was given to you was to look up the definition of "in flight" and "catch."
  8. Do they currently pay cash or check?
  9. In your example, I'd have that as close enough. It's going to come down to judgment, and I have never seen any guidelines to tell us what is close enough. I'd give the benefit of the doubt to the defense--if he could make a play at where he was playing, it's fine. Probably a little bit more than that.
  10. too good for gadgets, Matt? That's not the first time I've heard that.
  11. Yep. Because of the rule change stating that a pitcher cannot feint to third from the rubber, this is a balk. Throwing to a fielder not in the vicinity of the base and not in position to make a play is considered a feint to that base. If it makes you feel better, the coach was wrong, too. Third was occupied (occupation refers to runners, not fielders.)
  12. Here's where I would have done something differently: "I told OC that while the contact wasn't severe enough for me to warrant an ejection to talk to his kid and tell him there is no reason to bring his arms up like that at all" Don't get into the details of what players should or shouldn't do, or hypothetical situations. You had nothing. If you had a reason to think the forearms were a problem, then you would have had something. What did the OC say? I'm confused, since it was his guy with the forearms.
  13. 1) Any screencaps? 2) Don't rest a significant amount of weight on your arms. They're there for stability, not to bear your upper body's weight. Lean just enough on them to keep your body still.

Yes, because the relevant factor here is the attempted steal of home. So, there has to be a runner on third, but a runner on third does not automatically make this a balk.
  15. "You're horseSH*#." "You don't know what you're doing." "I wish we had someone competent out here." etc.
  16. He did not disrespect me, unless you are considering the mere act of disagreement as being disrespect, in which case, again, we need to toss everyone.
  17. Don't need it. You toss for this at this level, you'll get a reputation you don't want, and then you'll need some luck. Why would you even think about ejecting? He's getting off the field and he's not crossing any lines.
  18. What's going to get worse? Swearing is not an ejectable offense at this level. If he's going to be on you for that, he's going to be on you no matter what he says. If you're tossing for being ignorant, you might as well toss everyone. ?????? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Your original post in this thread implied that the last sentence got him tossed. I say that is not an ejectable offense. Your second post implies that the reason (at least in part) he got tossed was to prevent escalation. I say that if you toss for arguing from ignorance (which, again, is not an ejectable offense,) you have to toss almost everyone. This ejection met none of the Ps, nor is it a rule-book ejection.
  19. Those are Douglas. The writing is the old Douglas script and the logo is the old star logo with the left and right arms and script "glas" worn off.

  21. Wow. That's a low threshold.
  22. Only if the catcher has a legitimate play on the ball.
