Can anyone help me find the clip from a recent MiLB (I think) game where the game ended on a pulled foot swipe tag and there appeared to be a tag, but U1 signaled "Safe - Off the base" and missed what appeared to be a tag in the chest?
I'm having a heck of a time searching and you'll all be shocked to know that I don't have unlimited time to search for this..but would like the clip for the teachable moments.
Thank you.
Agree...I think the review could involve concrete aspects of judgement.
"Did the ball hit the hand?"
Okay...that impacts the decision that I originally made. We have interference.
I think this is a miss by the crew. U2 isn't going to get a look at this and neither is U1.
The two umpires who maybe get a look at this is U3 and PU. I've called this before as PU and had a great look. I understand & realize that working with four umpires and MLB is something I don't do. I still think it's a miss though.
Well...that's only partially true and it depends on the case. Typically past "antics" are litigated during discovery. (IANAL)
Also, this is real world. Jury instructions aren't necessarily real world.
Warnings don't work, only use them if required by rule. Just call balks, illegal pitches, etc...
Those are the only things that will maybe have an impact.
My slight counter point would be that since this is a new FED interp, I feel as though we should use a stricter interpretation early. If nothing changes in how it's called, then nothing will change.
