  1. Mazza Youk clearly slid directly toward Jeter and there was no way he could have touched second base from where he was (is that the rule or just a Guideline) Wegner made the call Francona came out but his arguement didn't last long and then we the television audience had to listen to Valentine spout on about how you never see that called
  2. I saw it and thought it was a good call also. I thought it was funny how fast Valentine changed his tune Is it called the force play slide rule in the majors??
  3. questioning integrity from an assistant coach = restricted or dumped
  4. if it keeps my dome safe then everyone can kiss my buttocks
  5. I would wear something like this without the chin strap
  6. there is a team in my area that like to use their pitcher to back up the throw to first base well of course the pitcher has to run across the baseline in front of the batter/runner just holding my breath and waiting to make that obstuction call
  7. He's waiting for his UIL hat to come in. hahahahahaha there goes another 64 bucks!
  8. Side note I can't believe that many fans in Cleveland all wore green shirts with numbers on the right breast pocket! Oh oh wait those are empty seats
  9. I will agree that the Reebok runs true to size for me as well. I couldn't get the new balance because they don't make a 12.5
  10. High School game? Where is his TASO hat?
  11. You can sure tell the defensive player thought he was guilty by his reaction. I concur I think I have obs there as well
  12. It does look silly if you asked me A few times I have even tried to rub my tummy at the same time
  13. Tapping of the head is the signal used around here for Courtesy runner
  14. Ah HC as in head coach
  15. Pilot makes the G2 pen in a mini size it is a click pen with a clip roughly the same size as a bullet pencil and they come in a multitude of colors.
  16. All you have to do to be a TASO member is pay the dues I know of one youth league around here that doubles your pay if you are a member. hmmmmm 40 dollar dues and instead of 20 bucks a game I get 40
  17. The closest I have come is first round of the playoffs last year both pitchers had no-hitters through 5 complete. Oh I was U3
  18. You are correct sir fed rule reference 8-4 m.
  19. Yes our catchers get CR's however this guy wasn't the catcher as I later found out
  20. Well we covered it last night in our chapter meeting. I was really kicking myself even though I was the base umpire in that game. Like Mazzamouth said I just assumed that when the HC started tapping his head(who came up with that signal anyway) the runner was coming in for the catcher I knew it wasn't the pitcher.
  21. Because we decided that regardless of the language used 7 in fact was used as a substitute runner the first time he ran for 22 22 came back out to play defense using up his one reentry the second time 7 came out to run he then became an illegal substitute and since according to 3-1-1a when a runner takes the place of a runner he has replaced then he is considered to be in the game thus 22 cannot come back in he cannot reenter a second time and we should then have declared 7 out for being an illegal substitute -since he was used as a sub runner in the first innning. Now the questions I have to ask myself are thus Was the head coach trying to pull a fast one by "courtesy running" for his first baseman? I think he knew full well what he was doing and tried to make excuses when the opposing coach called him on it. I will say this had the opposing coach not caught it then we would not have. Should we have ate the terminolgy error in the first inning and then allowed 22 to reenter? No in my mind since you cannot courtesy run for the f3 then what the offensive team did was in fact pinch run. Where I feel we messed up is we allowed 7 to remain in the game as a substitute for 22. Did we make a mess of it ? Yes from the get go. Did we attempt to rectify it ? Somewhat Will it happen again to myself or my partner? No it won't and hopefully after relating it tonight at the chapter meeting it won't happen to anyone else.
  22. Texas 10 after four and a half if the home team is up :yippie:
  23. fed in Texas
  24. #22 is f3 1st inning 22 gets a base hit and head coach indicates a courtesy runner #7 neither my partner PU or myself BU catch that 22 is not the f1 or f2 ,inning continues... #22 plays defense couple innings later same scenario as above 22 base hit 7 comes out to run however this time opposing coach notices 22 is not pitcher or catcher so he calls time we huddle and determine that in the first inning 7 pinch ran for 22 so now 22 has been pulled a second time so he is done. Here is where we messed it up we allowed #7 to stay in as a sub even though he had pinch run in the first so he should have been done then. Got home and realized that we should have ruled #7 to be out and restricted due to the illegal substitution. Oh and the coach tried to tell me he could courtesy run for #22 because he was moving him to catcher the next inning! just had to get that off my chest.
  25. Is the mechanic you all use for this that the determination of illegal slide is made by the PU? So while the call of safe or out at first is irrelevant it is still going to be made initially correct?
