1st Ejection for 2010 Freshman Game today. Top of the 6th, 2 outs. R1 on 2B. F1 turns and throws to F4 covering 2B for a pick off. R1 is really hung out and takes off for 3B. F4 quickly throws a bullet to F5 who is waiting to apply tag. R1 starts to slide but only gets to his knees and puts a shoulder into F5. F5 is knocked backwards and ball is dislodged. My call "Time" "Runner is out for Malicious Contact" and then he gets the EJ mechanic from me. No argument from anyone. HC later comes to me and says he spoke to his player and that he had no intent to make MC, just he is a bad slider, but understands my decision. TY Steve but perhaps he should learn to slide properly so it does not occur again. :givebeer:

If the AC attended the plate meeting and the HC was not there, then the AC that attended the plate meeting is the HC for the game. Only one I am talking to after the plate meeting.

Only one problem.....You can not put the ball back into play unless the pitcher has the ball. The pitcher also must be in contact with the rubber for you to put the ball back into play. Since neither of these circumstances were meet, you screwed the pooch. Ball was not legally put back into play. Since ball was not legally put back into play, I have nothing, including no balk. Keep your eye on the ball and know where it is at all times. Sorry but you had a big thing over nothing and it all started with a error you made.

Varsity Game tomorrow up in the San Bernardino mountains. AD calls this morning and advises they changed the site from their field to one down here at a lower elevation level. We have gotten rain for last 2 days and it is snow up in higher elevations. Instead of driving up the mountain for 25 miles, game is now 7 miles from home. We still expecting more rain today so field may be to wet any way. April in Southern California. Go ski in the mountains and surf at the beach....lol

90 degree days are cool. We have 110-115 degree days here in San Bernardino area. Try sunglasses for day games and yellow tinted shooting glasses for night games. I wear contacts and also need to keep the dirt out of my eyes. The yellow shooting glasses even brighten things up for you on overcast days or for night games.

Wow..Umpires for a Pitching Machine game:WTF I don't know if I would have pulled the trigger on the coach so quick, especially at a pitching machine game, no less at any other level for that comment. How about saying "That's enough coach". I recently had a AC argue a call. Said that's enough coach and gave him a warning that if he continued he would be ejected. Two days later he comes over to me at my car while getting ready for a game that followed his. He apologized to me and said he apologized to his HC and his team. He forgot he was there for the kids.

I did not witness the EJ but had all the reports since I am working as 1 of the assignors for our LL District. Game is a LL Major Softball. Basically HC argues balls and strikes with PU and is warned that is enough. Warning is witnessed by a Board Member who is the field rep for the night. She also happens to be VP for softball for the league. Later in the game, HC starts arguing with PU again and his tossed. Field Rep confirms coach was argumentative several times with PU and backs his EJ. Coach starts calling people the next day and after finding out his EJ included sitting out the next game, he states "well we will just forfeit the next game so they don't have to play without me". He is informed that he must sit out the next game they play, period. He then states he will forfeit the entire season. Oh, BTW this coach also seems to be a player rep on the board. Well the good news is, that after his comments about forfeits, he some how resigned his coaching position and his position on the board. Obviously this coach forgot what the reason he was involved with LL Softball for. Thankfully he will no longer be coaching or involved with the league period.

Even better is, is it not to early for play-off games? Must be a very short season.

I have been asked to and accepted to participate in a pilot mentor program for our High School Association. There were 6 selected for the program. I have b een partnered with a Veteran who works HS and College ball. I will go out and observe him work a game next week. After we will discuss what I observed. He will then watch one of my up coming assignments and conduct a informal eval. We will then work at least one Varsity game together. Afterward we will all discuss the program with the BOD and see if the program should be put into full effect for next year. As I am always looking to hone my skills and improve this sounds like a excellent opportunity. Do any other Associations have a program like this?

Received a interesting Varsity assignment this morning. The game will be between a School for the Deaf and a Christian School. It immediately got me thinking how important non-verbal mechanics are going to be during that game. Does anyone have any experience with a game such as this with any special recommendations?

Next batter. No different then if he hit the ball and the inning ended on a FC.

I was on the plate tonight for a LL Major game tonight that goes down as the most fun game I have worked in some time. Game went 7 innings in 1 hour and 45 minutes. Starting pitchers both went 6 innings. The last pitch for the last out of the 6th inning, for both pitchers was their 85th pitch. Visiting team comes up in 7th and hits a solo HR of about 220 feet to Right Center. Home team comes up, gets tie run to 3rd with 2 outs. Batter hits a deep fly to Left Field. Left Fielder parks under the ball and everyone holds their breath. Ball lands in the glove and it is a CATCH!!!! Game!!!!!! The parents on both teams erupted and were giving the kids of both teams a standing ovation. It was truly one of the best Little League Major games I have not only witnessed but can say I was honored to have been behind the plate for it. It was a rare pleasure. My hats off to the Wildwood Little League Major Mets and Dodgers. :wow:

If it is wedging against your CP change how you have it attached or switch to a shorter or longer throat protector. It should hang freely and never become wedged when worn properly. I won't work without one. I have taken that shot without one and was laid out on my back.
