LL is non-profit, yet I'm sure that those who work real jobs within the orgainization get paid. Why should an umpire work a 2 hour game for free. Most of the LL I know are now using experienced umpires. Keeps things in order. I volunteer. Sat on the LL Board for years. Give free clinics with TH3 to the kids and coaches. I will even go out and do games for a good cause for no fee. But please, LL is shown on television. It's a moneymaker, but lets not pay the umpires. Give me a break.

Well, I got some astounding news yesterday. My wife and father-in-law have made the list for Honor Flight Michigan's June 6th flight to Washington DC to visit the World War II Memorial!! How special is that?! My father-in-law will be 90 years old on Sunday, and I've heard the stories, felt the horror, seen his eyes water up during a discussion, and seen BOTH of his Purple Heart medals. Yes, both. Even through his stroke from 1997 that fortunately only makes it difficult to communicate, he can still tell a story! SWMBO texted me the news yesterday while at work, and when I got home the first thing I said was ..."can you believe it?" While I've only had 1 ejection in a long time, I do tend to agree coaches and players are not aware of where the line is. They've watched too much TV

It's not the pitch that gets me, but I get so pissed at myself on the high and tight pitch right at my face that the batter swings at. That extra long blink sometimes. I've done this long enough that you would think I wouldn't still occassionally do this.
