Change the national anthem time for the game to be 4 hours before game time. When they arrive at the field to start warm ups and etc. or whatever.  No fan faire no tv. Just a couple fools now doing their damdest not to wet themselves

It's baseball.  You want to complain that the fans are getting mad with all the down time (they are!), but then allow this to delay the entire game for 5 minutes?

Sure, it was fun and games there.  The problem is when it get emulated at lower levels, it turns and is no longer fun and games.

So, Blue, how do you handle this at your local sports plex? Do you try to move it along or just let it go?

We shut this down a few years ago and it has been all but eradicated since.

The wing umpires (or in 2-man, base umpire handles 1B side and PU handles 3B side) would tell the offenders to get back to their dugouts. If they don't comply, then we let them know their coach will be ejected if they don't go back to their dugout immediately. That gets them moving, and also gets their coach to tell them to get in the dugout.
