Wanted to upgrade from my All-Star System 7 mask (FM4000-MBK) so I ordered a new Force3 Defender and also added an All-Star Skull cap to the mix.  Anybody else using this combination?

I am struggling to get the mask adjusted to be comfortable, snug, and does not restrict my field of view.  The top pad seems to push down on the bill of the skull cap and limits my view.   I have tried it with the Force3 provided harness and the Umplife harness.  So far the Force3 harness seems to work best but still needs some tweaking.   Any suggestions?

The skull cap does seem to work great with the AS System 7 mask, but I wanted to upgrade to the Force3 to work upper levels.  I have a few JUCO games this season and hope to move up to NAIA and DIV III in the next year or two.

I am not sure how the mask will react with the All Star Skull cap, but I was never able to get it adjusted properly so I gave it up after a season.  It kept pushing down on the bill of my cap no matter what I did.

Will tell you, Force 3 does listen to suggestions and recommendations as they changed the springs after the first version to different locations.  And beefed up the padding with the springs as people were getting cut on the chin due to not enough padding.  I am one of those.

The real answer is hopefully that Force3 will research and develop its own skull cap for us with its own face masks. Sometimes when we mix manufacturers, we can make things work together...sometimes not.

I have the All-Star FM4000 steel (with the AS magnesium pads) and AS skull cap combo and love it - have you tried that in games? I'm not sure how much of an "upgrade" the Force 3 mask is over it when paired with the mag pads and AS skull cap.

I use this combo (F3 V2 mask with All-Star skully and UL harness). I haven't had any issues, but I will say that (like the F3 in all configurations) the mask should still be worn tight.

Any mask with a skully is going to pull down some on the front, so I just start the skully with the bill a little higher (maybe 1/2" to 1"?) than it seems like it should, and let the weight of the mask pull the skully into the proper location where it rests on my head correctly. On that front, if you don't have sufficient padding in the skully (e.g., bought a large when a small would have been right), I could see how the padding could slip with the weight of the mask.

I do also remember there being a thread on here about adjusting the top pad of the Force3.

Basically, out of the box the pad sits a little to low on the top bar. So you would just undo the top pad velcro and pull it tighter over that bar. It will lift the padding just a bit. Thus increasing the view window just enough that it won't push down on the bill. Plus... you get the added extra padding over that top bar.
