Jacket choice ....

HELP!!!!

Ok, here's the scoop ....

I have one of the nice +POS navy jackets I got last year from another forum for cheap, ....very warm! Later in the year, I got a Smitty's black w/ white shoulders jacket off of eBay cheap. This jacket is the one w/ the elastic at the bottom. It was an XL, so it's tight to do plate work with, ...so it's more of a bases thingy.

So, here we are ....

What do I get:

1) Another Smitty's w/ black and white shoulders, but the one that's open on the buttom for tucking?

2) Either Honig's or Smitty's jacket w/ polo blue shoulders (you could throw +POS in there but have been told to stay away if it's not the 'white label' ...and it's not)

3) Something else ? I was considering the new Majestic Cool Base in black, and just layer up underneath it w/ cold gear stuff etc, if needed ....

Now, ..the small association I'm in only requires matching, and I do a lot of my games with the same guy. He's got a Honig's convertible (zip sleeves), a navy, and a polo striped jacket.

What I want to do is get what will wind up matching best for the most situations. If I get the open bottomed Smitty, he could wear either his convertible or my other Smitty to match. If I get the polo, we can match, if I get the Majestic Cool Base, that'll match (for the most part) his Honig's convertible ......

of course I can ... I do, however, enjoy the advice I can get on the forum, and ...since this forum can get slow, I figured it would be fun to pose an 'equipment decision' question to those who parouse this forum ........... I guess not......

Living in Michigan you should look at a Majestic Therma base. I got one this spring and it is great for those cold days.

Grab the Majestic jacket. It is heavier than the Smitty / Honig's pullover (of the same type) so if the temperature drops, you won't have to "bundle" as much.

Absent of a situation where you need to have a numbered jacket and a blank jacket, I find it redundant to have two of the same item.

If your buddy is on dish and wants to wear the Honig's convertable, you are fine to wear your Majestic (assuming the smock is the black one).

I considered that very closely. Here's the deal though. Even though it DOES get cold here for some games ....I don't do high-school at this point, so, ...my first game is actually Tuesday. The likelihood of running into bad weather (Therma base cold) is pretty slim, but ...still, ...it's a good idea. The above is the only reason I've held off on it. My partner does have polo blue, so that works in any situation , ...and yes, Ump_24, it is the Honig's black convertible, with the thin white stripe on it...it would be fine for what we do here in this little town!

Nope, drove over to Honig's yesterday, and grabbed their K17 w/ the Powder Blue stripes for $39.99 !! That's $20 off, I figured, ....that's the way to go for that price. It's a benefit to live 25 minutes from the Ann Arbor store!!

Anyhow .... I'm ready to go!

And , ....to add ....my second jacket came in the mail on Saturday....thanks to Jim and the staff at Ump-attire! Order on Thursday, get your stuff on Saturday? OH YEAH!

Anyhow ...

I wanted something light, ....something 'in between' ....so I went ahead with the Majestic Cool Base (black) ....wow, ...this is a nice jacket! Wear like a jacket, or you can tuck it! Soft comfy material. A really nice option for those 50 to 60 degree days with a breeze! A long sleeve compression layer or 2, you're good to go. And, ...I will add, I bet you could layer a cold gear layer to this also, and wear it in colder weather while working the dish. I know there are some who don't like the look, but this is a nice clean jacket option for all of those in betweens!

Oh yeah, and the Pink Dalco's came in too!! :cheers:
