NFHS Rules.  ( NJSIAA HS rules if anyone here is from NJ)

0 Outs.   Runner on 1st.  Ground ball to SS who throws to second baseman for a force out at 2B.  2B does not step to the side of 2B to make a return throw to 1B for a potential double play. ( he basically throws from the 2B bag)   R1 does not slide. He simply runs straight towards 2B, not making any contact with the fielder but because the second baseman made the throw to 1b while basically standing in the 2B bag, the fielder was in his way of the throw.  Do we have interference on R1 causing BR to be out also?

As Larry said, this is a FPSR violation, the penalty for which is that the violating runner is out and the BR is out (if play started with less than 2 outs). Other runners return to their TOP bases.

Note that this is not mere INT: all FPSR violations are INT, but not all INT is a FPSR violation. The difference is important: for regular INT, the BR is not out as an "built-in" part of the penalty, and other runners return to their TOI, not TOP, bases.

No difference for NJSIAA. Straight NFHS Force Play Slide Rule - the runner is required to slide (legally) or avoid getting in the way of the throw. I have a double play.

Yes we do here. See above

Here's a FED interp on the play.  Left open is what happens if the runner is closer to the base than in the interp, but not yet close enough to (normally be expected to) slide.

SITUATION 3: With no outs and R1 on first base, B2 hits a hard ground ball to F6. F6 fields the ball and steps on second base and then throws to first base in an attempt to double up B2. R1 is running standing up in a straight line to second and is hit by F6's throw. R1 was not even half way to second base and did not intentionally interfere with the throw. The defensive coach states that B2 should also be out since R1 violated the force-play slide rule. RULING: This is not a violation of the force play slide rule. R1 cannot be expected to slide at that point in the base path. The play stands. R1 would be out only if he intentionally interfered. (8-4-2b penalty)
