R1 and R2, no outs.  Batter swings and gets interfered with the catchers glove however the batter makes solid contact with the ball and singles thru the left side, driving in a run.  I know it's a delayed dead ball and since everyone acquired the base they were entitled to, the interference is ignored.  My question is, being the PU, how is that call made without everyone stopping action, just with your left arm extended without verbalizing?  This was a HS JV game and nobody said anything about it but it got me thinking what about a higher level game where the catcher or coach feels/hears the interference?  I'm assuming you'd just explain what you had after the play stops and time is called.

Point at the catcher and say "That's interference'" or "Catcher's interference."  Nothing else to do (at least in codes other than FED with the DDB signal).

If they stop, that's on them (but it might prevent future problems caused by one team or the other thinking they know the rule).

noumpere is correct...you have to acknowledge it, everyone should know you have it, beyond that, it is up to the players and coaches to know the rule (some 3rd base coach might send R2 thinking he is guaranteed not to be out so why not try to send him home, and they would be wrong....)

I'm just pointing, yelling "catcher's interference", and then seeing what happens and make all calls as if it didn't until the play is over.

I wouldn't start worrying about "well if I say it really loud, then they might stop playing".

I verbalize, but sotto voce.

agreed...........if you have contact with the ball as described above, there is going to be dugouts, coaches and parents yelling.  Not MY fault you didn't hear me call it coach.
