OAK vs, KC, Bottom 10, 2 outs, Grossman the batter. Ground ball to SS who throws to first for the 3rd out. Interesting thing was Greg Gibson going straight from a safe mechanic (presumably on the pulled foot of F3) to an out mechanic. Call was correct, but the mechanics looked really bad. Once the video is up, I'd love to get some input as to why he was so early, or if he was signaling something else. If it was just a case of bad timing, it was REALLY bad (to the point I don't think I would ever make that mistake), and I just wouldn't expect to see that from an MLB guy, especially one like Greg.

Just bad timing.  F3's foot came off the bag and Gibson was about the make the "safe, off the bag" call when F3 stabs back at the bag before the BR arrives.  Changes the mechanic from safe to out mid-stream.

9/18/19, Padres @ Brewers, Bottom of 7th, 2 out, R3, 2-2 count...

Pitch in dirt, swung at. Ball gets away from catcher, but Batter’s movement propels the ball away from the catcher. Throw from catcher to F3 not in time. R3 scores.

Crew gets together, and must have judged Interference, and called BR out.

Big discussion after.

Correct call in MLB.  Nothing in NCAA and NFHS since it wasn't intentional.

Sept. 24 Cardinals-Dbacks, top of the 15th. How is Duplantier's delivery from the set not a balk? I don't like either of the glove open/close or the foot twitch.

Is it because he stops opening his glove before going home every time?

So you’re saying  the kick “clearly hinders” F2’s attempt to field the ball and throw out BR?  I could argue where F2 fields the ball gives him a better throwing lane to 1b and a decent throw retires BR easily.

It's MLB. Cleveland pitcher Mike Clevinger has a minor foot reposition in the set that shouldn't give anyone pause but his sideways windup (I'm guessing it should be called a windup) is wild and why MLB got wrapped around the axle earlier this season about a second step toward home probably has been toned down if they are letting Clevenger do his thing in the windup. I have nothing in either set or windup except a huge advantage to R3 if Clevenger winds up, if you can call it that, with R3.  You have to watch a lot of the video to see the aforementioned because they start clips late and you don't see the start of the windup or set in most of them but there are a few where you can see the whole sequence:

Both of those statements may be true, and can certainly be argued.  Neither negates the initial hinderance.

I read Gil’s take and I guess it make sense. The actual fielding of the ball and throw never happened since the INT happens “time of kick” and that’s the end of the play. Much the same as a SS who completes a play to 1B after being interfered with.
