Umpire-Empire locks topics which have not been active in the last year. The thread you are viewing hasn't been active in 3505 days so you will not be able to post. We do recommend you starting a new topic to find out what's new in the world of umpiring.

ALL:

We've created at YouTube channel for Ump-Attire.com. We've generated a list of products we carry & will start producing more of these in the next 2-3 weeks. We're the #1 online retailer & leading authority for sports officials in gear & apparel. We're also posting these videos onto our products page on the website: ump-attire.com

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7slZaNPeW8

We need some help. Please go to YouTube and enter your email to subscribe to our channel. Right now, we have 2 chest protectors posted in our "OFFICIAL TWO-MINUTE REVIEW" & we'll focus on hitting the key points about each item. Next, we're offering, "CREW HOW-TO" & we'll demonstrate some "tricks of the trade" - like folding your apparel in your gear bag so that it doesn't get wrinkled from sitting all day at work or in your travels. We've posted how to crease a hat & told viewers WHY we crease our hats; last, we're getting ready to post our Hero's Pride shirt stay foot loops to keep your shirt tucked in easily & looking tight for your entire game.

Please - email me with any ideas & know that several will be duplicated suggestions, but I LOVE the feedback; SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube channel @umpattirecom & we'll get more of these items on "THE OFFICIAL 2-MINUTE REVIEW" & "CREW HOW-TO"

Safe Travels!      Scott Kennedy

  1. Thank you, emphatically, for looking the part while presenting your videos. While you certainly are at liberty to mix it up and vary it from casual to official (I got a kick out of the Pink theme one), please don't ever wear your hat backwards, untuck your shirt, wear a CP over an otherwise dress shirt, or hold the recording session in a poorly lit conference room.
  2. Glad to see that you too notice that the foam padding on the Wilsons is much too thick and bulky. Why is this? Because it's sofa cushion foam! And hasn't changed in over ten years!
  3. You allude to, but don't definitively state, how a CP should fit you. It needs to be made expressly clear – the billow should be at or just beneath the Adam's Apple, with the shoulder arches doing exactly that: arching up and over the shoulder. The CP should not be worn like a shop apron, hanging off your neck. A standard CP (the Wilsons included) should end, without additional extension, at that "corner" of the last joined rib of the ribcage. But, this should not compromise the fit at the neck and collarbones. Once that starting spot has been determined, then not only sizing of a CP, but the outright choice of which CP and accessories (harness especially) becomes a much more productive process. Guys keep buying gear, and then wearing it, in ignorance.
  4. You / we may want to investigate post-production enhancements for these videos, such as on-screen links and cues. I'm all for "doing the best with what you got where you are" (paraphrased from Theodore Roosevelt), so I wouldn't say go hog-nuts with new cameras, lighting kits, etc., but the landscape layout will suit you best going forward, and the lighting levels you currently use should be considered your base-minimum level.
  5. The piece name you are looking for, @Scott Kennedy, is the ailette. Then, the outer, larger dome-shape that covers the meat of the shoulder is the pauldron.

@Umpire in Chief, since the Umptalk podcast no longer exists in terms of new episodes. Can we get it replaced in the Umpire News section with a section for the Ump-Attire YouTube channel?

Leave the Umptalk tab and create a new one.

that works as well.

Really wish he would come wit more UmpTalk podcasts. There is a severe lack of podcasts directed at us umpires. Especially good ones.

You are on the same page as me. I was just researching how to get this done automatically over the weekend.

I thought that I had replied to this post & my apologies, but I don't see it anywhere on here? Am I missing something ? If not, I'll retype my "Thank You" & expand on what you wrote as a reply.

Thanks MadMax!
