No, not ME.

@johnpatrick has neither asked me to do this, nor does he know that I am, so I hope it's okay.  He's way too humble to post this milestone.

In any case, John was selected earlier this year to be a Little League World Series umpire in Williamsport.  His trip there, and his (hopefully) multiple opportunities to umpire on ESPN will be the icing on the cake to a dream year for an umpire.  He started the year at TUS Pro school and has been working as many LL games as his schedule will allow in preparation for the LLWS next month.

My main reason for posting this is because as a new LL umpire a few years ago, John was largely responsible for teaching me proper pro (Evans) mechanics from the very start, and giving me opportunities within LL to work higher level games, including Sectionals and a Sub-Division game (the equivalent of State semifinals in other states).  John is a dedicated LL umpire, student of the craft, and teacher.  He has literally trained hundreds of LL umpires as a Lead Instructor, always willing to give his time to help others get better.

Congratulations John, and THANK YOU for being a huge part of making me the umpire that I am today (let me know if you prefer not to take the blame for that and I will retract).  Don't suck in Williamsport (you won't) and I hope it is all you want it to be.  I will be recording all the games, and can't wait to see you on the dish!

Congratus John.I know a fellow umpire who went in 2010.He said it was a life time experience. They have discussions after the games wanting your input and giving you input.According to him, a very rewarding experience.Do not worry about getting hungary plenty of food and it is good.

GOOD LUCK

Play Suspended for Day One of the 2015 Little League Baseball® World Series

The Little League® International Tournament Committee has announced that all play for day one of the 2015 Little League Baseball World® Series has been suspended due to weather.

Consulting with weather authorities, and ensuring that all teams have the best on-field playing conditions, the games will be rescheduled for tomorrow, August 21. All eight first-round games will be played on Friday, August 21.

“Frequent showers and lengthy periods of steady rain are expected today in Williamsport as a cold front moves slowly east across Pennsylvania,” said Frank McCathran, Director of Earth Network's WeatherBug Schools and Club Safety Programs. “More than an inch of rain is expected today with limited breaks in precipitation at any point throughout the day. Lightning will also pose a safety issue throughout the afternoon.”

The first-round game schedule for Friday, August 21 will be as follows:

Game 1 – 10:00 a.m.: Europe-Africa (Visitor) vs. Caribbean (Home) – Volunteer Stadium
Game 2 – 11:00 a.m.: Southwest (Visitor) vs. Northwest (Home) – Lamade Stadium
Game 3 – 1:00 p.m.: Latin America (Visitor) vs. Australia (Home) – Volunteer Stadium
Game 4 – 2:00 p.m.: Great Lakes (Visitor) vs. West (Home) – Lamade Stadium
Game 5 – 4:00 p.m.: Canada (Visitor) vs. Mexico (Home) – Volunteer Stadium
Game 6 – 5:00 p.m.: Southeast (Visitor) vs. New England (Home) – Lamade Stadium

Thanks.  Just saw this before I was going to check the weather since the first game wasn't listed on the Live tab of WatchESPN.

I suspect CDP is rushing to get their semis and finals in today before the rain reaches them.

Looking good - got the called third strike on the first two batters.  Could be in the slot a little more, but good head height.  Great timing.  Good to see a baseball hammer done properly!

Nice to see that John doesn't take his mask off and take 3 steps in front of the plate to throw a new ball to the pitcher.  I saw so many guys in the regionals do that.

Don't I know a recent pro school grad when I see him!! Looking good....from the plate stance to the strong hammer and timing!
