If it's not blocked on Arbiter, it's getting booked. I thought that I was going to get a few days off next week, but no... 7 games in 5 days. Thanks to the early season rain, we've had lots of double headers. It's a good thing I have a hubby that travels, because I'd never see him with the schedule that I have. Not complaining - I love it!!

Yep, sometimes even when you have it blocked you still get a call from assignor ("can you work that day? I know you have it blocked, but we need ya") .  No problem really as I believe that it does not hurt to ask.  They just have a need and if you take it to help out it is a good thing.

I've learned that even when blocked, and another game is scheduled, you can get games scheduled when you have more than one assigner.

I learned that one the hard way too.

I also learned if you get 2 games in the morning or afternoon and that's all you want, go in and block out the rest of that day or you will show available and get a 9 & 11:30 then get a 3 & 5:30 (or something similar). I will not make that mistake again.

Amen, I have assigners that really push it. I'll have a HS game time blocked to 6:30 and they'll assign a game at 6:30. I try hard to keep my schedule updated and I accept games right away. Once accepted, I won't turn them back. I'm getting better as an umpire but my biggest virtue is still my reliability.

I had a Varsity game followed by two hockey games the other day.  I made sure to block out the next day because I needed the rest.

I learned the same lesson this season.  Too bad my first 8 have all been cancelled due to weather.  I was told at my local association's meeting last weekend that...the best ability is AVAILability...

We have moved from Arbiter to Reftown but I end up with games on some days, even if I have them blocked.

I think I've heard that before. Can't place it, though....
