well, it looks like we have seen the last of the one knee stance in MLB...........it was thought that last year when he spent the year ion the disabled list that his back injury might end his career.....but hey, 33 years?. .......good run.....

It's all part of the plot to speed up games! By coercing "Rain Delay McClelland" into retirement, MLB is sure to save valuable minutes in between strike calls and deliberate mechanics when Stretch is behind the dish. I'm sure the players were chafing at the notice that they are to stay "near" the box and quit strutting around the dirt circle, readjusting every button, strap and... "bump" on them between pitches, and were demanding a compromise. MLB ships McClelland into the sunset, and there's your compromise.

 

There were batters who'd be halfway to 1B, thinking it was Ball 4, before ol' Tim would call the pitch a strike.

Maybe...But any players poll on umpire's strike zones will have Tim at #1 every time.

I heard Ripperger is now hired in McClelland's place.  Is that correct?

Also Gibson and one other was hired - cannot remember that last name off the top of my head.
