Question for Ump-Attire

    First, I'd like to say that I have always had a great experience whenever I buy something from ump-attire.com!  Your customer service is fantastic and your pricing is fair!

 

    I just want to inquire and see if you've ever given any thought to accepting Paypal as a form of payment.  The only reason I ask is that many of us on here sell used equipment to each other.  Paypal is by far the preferred method to accept and make payments between members on this site.  It would be nice to be able to use some of the funds we've stockpiled in our Paypal accounts to buy new equipment from your website.

Thanks so much for your kind words and taking the time to make a suggestion to make Ump-Attire.com even better.

Full disclosure is we were working on adding PayPal in December, but felt what we had developed was not going to work exactly the way we wanted and it needed more thought. So we punted and decided to wait until we had more time to work on this at a later time.

In the meantime, we launched some more easily implemented features that went live yesterday including:

-A message that tells you on items "This is in stock and it will ship today (or next business day)" so you have confidence about whether something is or is not available and when it will go out.

-More information at checkout that reveals our PCI compliant security features to keep your credit card and personal information safe

-Logos on product pages to help you more easily identify what brand you are looking at

-Savings amounts on sale items (a feature we missed with the new launch that we had on the former site)

Regardless, PayPal is on the short list and our new target date is June. Thanks for your question that allowed me an easy segeway into talking about some other new features we wanted to share the good news on.

I'm guessing that Paypal takes a bigger chunk of the sale, as opposed to a normal credit card.

You are right. It depends on amount of orders using PayPal each month. We figure it would cost an additional 0.5 to 1.0% per order more than standard credit cards, so not terribly much more.

Great to hear you were ahead of us Jim.  Good luck getting it set up.  Pass the costs on.  We should pay for the convenience to us.  My opinion, for what it's worth.

I get why Paypal is great between private sellers, and I use it all the time on eBAY, But I fail to see its advantage with buying things from a business.

Because it is like a separate bank account. I never transfer money from my Paypal account because I figure I will want or need something down the road and I can use that money without tapping my actual bank account. I also have the Paypal debit card so if there is a purchase I don't want my wife to know about (Valentines present) I can use that.
