Dude's 85, still above ground, and still umpiring.  He can wear whatever the hell he wants as far as I'm concerned!

I'm not impressed.  A partner of mine is now 89.  He has been umpiring baseball since 1951 (basketball & football official also).  He has worked every level from youth ball to D-1 in baseball & football.  He still wants to work HS varsity but most of the schools don't want him.  He has outlasted his skills.

 

I feel a special bond with him because he was on the field with me for my first varsity baseball game and my first varsity football game.

 

Last year was the first time he wore an inside CP.  I'm happy to say, he called me when he decided he was going to make the switch.  I used the information I picked up here to help him.

I can only wish I will live to be old enough to be mocked for doing something I love.  Props to him (and all) the very senior people who facilitate the game being played for others.
