Maybe the local league is letting travel teams stay intact for the regular season. Or making skill-based cuts.  It would have to be something pretty grievous.

The local league claims that it was because they had too many coaches on the board, so some coaches resigned to fix it. Hard to believe that's all. I imagine there's much more of a backstory here.

The adults screw up, so 700 kids pay the penalty? Now that's offensive, to me.

Leagues eject themselves. I'm not sure what this means or if meant as a quip, but if the problem was caused by coaches and managers, the kids did not eject themselves.

I know Tamara and I suspect that Newport Beach ignored her instruction/direction on this for quite some time for her to recommend this drastic action.  I also suspect the kids will be back on the field very soon.  She's tough, but she wants the kids playing.

It's this:

the Manager/Coach ratio on the board of directors who are determined to customize the league’s program to their own liking

Most do.

I'm drawing an analogy between the way the organization deals with a local league and the way an umpire deals with a game participant.  If you're umpiring a game, a player commits an offense, and you eject him leaving 8 players; the other kids didn't eject themselves.  Nevertheless, the responsibility for ruining the game lies with the offending player, not with the umpire enforcing the rules.

I suspect this is more than the truth, rather than the league presidents assertion that he knew nothing about what was going on. Having been involved intimately with District administration for years, unilateral decisions are never made, and most DA's would rather quietly fix problems before Western Region or Williamsport finds out about them. In our District, the district administration was very close with our local leagues, and the lines of communication were always open, in both directions.

Most do WITHIN THE RULES. This is most likely about doing it their way no matter what the rules say.

Sounds to me like Tamara did everything she possibly could to get this league in line. Sounds like she was either blown off by the league or told "yeah we'll take care of it" for quite a while with no results. I'm sure asking for a suspension of the charter was a last resort. Sounds like President Borquez and his gang thought they were above the LL rules, and were told plenty of times to right the ship, but chose to ignore the orders. Then, when the $hi& hits the fan, as rat coaches tend to do....they play the "It's all about the kids" card to the media.

That's my sense of the situation as well.  The responsibility should be put squarely on the shoulders of the Newport Beach LL BOD - not D55 or Western Region.

How can they expect their children to play by the rules if they don’t?

Rat coaches and manipulative, self-serving league administrators!

Run all of them!

I wonder why this league sticks with a LL charter in the first place.  There are other orgs that allow much more latitude.

Two local leagues this year in my immediate area switched from LL to USSSA.
