The stupid Tuesday question: must we call something if a batted ball in foul territory is touched by a base coach?

ex: a poor grouder in foul territory picked up by the 3rd base coach before the ball stops...???

And thank him for preventing the 3rd baseman or left fielder from chasing it down and delaying the game.

Do you have to call something.

A quiet Foul is sufficient since everyone knows it is Foul.

Anything else is what I would call a "Stadium Call".

In my local LL, (where I know all of the coaches), I too have been known to critique the coach on his fielding ability.

However, to Semper Fi's post, I'll call it loud enough for the BR & my partner to know it's foul.

If it's the only adult and your trying to get home early then call interference and eject him.

Otherwise unless it has a chance of going fair (or is a fly ball / line drive that has a chance to be caught) then just wait for the ball to get back to the pitcher and call "play"
