9 years later my custom TW retro fit is going strong. I wash it on delicate and hang dry twice a year. no rips or tears!

Sanded my WV Platinum. Going to paint it black. After talking to dontflinch i decided to give it a shot. Here goes phase 1!

First phase done. Needing to fill the holes where i removed the throat pad. Gonna apply another coat then a finish.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this question because I'm sure it has been talked about before....

 

I ordered a DeltaFlex harness for my Douglas.  Will it attach to the CP without any modifications or will I need to do something to get it to work?

Fits right on.  I am fairly big (6'4", 250 lb) and mine was a direct fit.  Makes all the difference in the world with that CP, I am not a fan of the stock Douglas harness.

 

Not a inch of tape on my Delta-Flex and it holds adjustments all season long.  I was constantly taping (and re-taping) the straps together on the Douglas harness to try and hold adjustments

Yep.  The tape on the straps up by my neck held for quite a while.  I'm not sure if I ever replaced that tape.  The tape on the straps where the buckles are came off constantly.  It would hold for a few weeks and I would have to take it off, tighten the straps, and re-tape it.  I figured the DeltaFlex was worth $27.

That will help but it won't turn a Douglas harness into a Delta Flex :)

Well, let me clarify.....the one I received originally (catchers version) did not have lower elastic straps, they were fabric.   Now, my issue may be with the fact that I have slots and T-hooks on my Douglas, so reaching is an issue ....but I've heard the same from others.

 

And yes Mike, we're fatter! :D

I used the catcher's version on my Douglas for 2 years with no problems. Thunderheads is correct that the lower straps aren't elastic, but they worked great with the standard clips.

If you get the Delta Flex (umpire's version) direct from All Star , it's only about $15.

Then that's why it was too short for me, because my Douglas had the slots and t-hooks and wrapped around the front ......

Is the neoprene "triangle" on the harness solid (vs. having a triangular cutout)?  If solid that is the catcher's harness.  I've not used the catcher's one, but it seems like the elastic side straps on the umpire model would let you cinch up your CP a bit tighter.  But if the one you got fits and works for you I wouldn't worry about it.

Mine looks exactly like yours in that picture.  Now that you mention it, maybe it is elastic on the side straps.  It was dark last night when I was putting it on.  I'll have to check.

You got the right one then.  After TW pads, this is one of my "money best spent" purchases - makes a huge difference, at least it did for me.
