Quiet Swearing

I should probably post this in the ejection forum but I don't feel like registering...

What do you use as a guideline for ejecting a coach if he comes up to discuss a call and swears so probably only you can hear it? I'm talking HS varsity or American Legion baseball. Something like "You're going to call that fu----- bullsh-- now?" or "you've been fu----- terrible all day." Do you give a warning about language or would you have an automatic dump?

I learned from a very experienced official to tell him to watch the self abuse. I usually smile when I say it. Sometimes I tell them that's way to get that out of their system.

Quietly or not, DON'T ALLOW IT, PLUS, the second quote is a PERSONAL ATTACK. Toss him.

In my state, High School, Fed rules, if anybody uses an F-bomb loud enough that I can hear it, they get to sit on the bus, whether or not it is directed at me personally.  In the past two years I tossed 2 kids for such offenses and the State Association backed me up 100%.  Same goes for a coach.  In my opinion, he can use different vocabulary to express his displeasure.  It is unnecessary and a detriment to the example he is to set for his kids.  Automatic, to the bus!

The coach is not swearing at me and I for sure am not swearing at him. I have worked from DI on down to12 year olds and just don't tolerate out of control vocabulary. Everyone is going to act professional or we will find something else for you to do that day. Can't remember the last time it has happened to me but I am sure I dumped whoever did it.

Then again if a ump gets this a lot then it is time to look at ones self and see if there is a reason coach is  so upset.

I think everyone is of the understanding that once it get's personal.............. buh bye.  However, I'd like to add another view. The poster mentioned that in AZ, they play year round.  Now, I don't live in a desert (anymore), but I can tell you one thing, it get's HOT in the summer.  If there is ANY WAY POSSIBLE of cutting this short so as not to allow him to get to the "personal" part of this, I'm cutting it off.  I'm keeping him there, sweating his @SS off in the heat, just like I am.  NO WAY am I letting them get to the beer fridge at home before I have a chance to get to mine.  However, there comes that time when "ya gotta do what ya gotta do".
