  1. PU has the call in both situations provided the batted ball gets to the outfield. The mechanic we use is BU has all bases as long as the ball doesn't leave the infield, if it gets to the grass, the PU has the call at third in both cases. First he takes the touch at the plate, in the 1st and 3rd case, then he works up the line for a play at third, not getting too close in case of a bobble or errant throw to third base, so he can still get back to the plate for a play there, and the FU can cover second for the BR if he tries to take an extra base and there is a play at 2nd.
  2. I think you intrepreted the rule correctly, even though there was not contact between the B and F2, F2 removed the opportunity for B to strike at the ball. In my mind that is CI, award 1st base.

    Quiet Swearing

In my state, High School, Fed rules, if anybody uses an F-bomb loud enough that I can hear it, they get to sit on the bus, whether or not it is directed at me personally. In the past two years I tossed 2 kids for such offenses and the State Association backed me up 100%. Same goes for a coach. In my opinion, he can use different vocabulary to express his displeasure. It is unnecessary and a detriment to the example he is to set for his kids. Automatic, to the bus!
  4. I live in an area that we need to know at least 3 different rule books for Summer Baseball. OBR, FED, and the one for another state which is NOT clearly documented in any way shape or form. And some teams that when you ask "What rule book are we using, Coach?" answer with "Regular high school" which could be either FED or Legion OBR. In those cases I try to defer to OBR, and really wish a lot of the stupid contradictions between FED and OBR would be eliminated. Dead ball appeals, pickoff from the wind up position, immediate dead ball on a balk, mandatory at least 1 base award on obstruction, the third to first fake pickoff play. It would make our jobs a lot simpler to only need to know 1 rule book with minor variations, as opposed to 2 completely different mechanics and rulings for the same play.
