When you think you have seen it all!!!

My partner last night was wearing a Chest Protector. He was base Umpire!!!!!

This guy was just plain horrible.

This newbie only has 1 Shirt. 1 Pair pants. I think he has more of a catchers chest protector. Once somebody handed him a ball that had gone out of play. When he threw it to me he had the most girlish throw I have ever seen. Me and the catcher were cracking up. People could not get mad at the bad calls cause he was just a comedy act. I had to look around just to make sure I was not on Candid Camera!

Was it under his shirt? Didn't you tell him to take it off before the game? 1 shirt and 1 pair of pants isn't the end of the world - I started out the same way (granted I wasn't getting paid, but still...). But yeah, I'm not going on the field with a partner who's wearing a chest protector.

Ground ball to F5 throws to 1st. Before the ball or the runner even got to the base he was yelling "SAFE"

I just shook my head in amazement while fans laughed at him.

He said he had a stomach virus and was protecting his stomach

If the stomach virus is that bad, I would of told him we can call the assignor and figure out what to do, as he shouldn't be on the field then.

Was his name Jimmy?

A classic Jimmy Hughes moment! His base umpire wasn't much better, pointing at him to make a call at first base. Then wouldn't return the favor on a play at the plate! Hung Jimmy out to dry TWICE!!:)

45 minutes before a HS game last year my partner who I never worked with before were goin through our pregame with about 20 minutes to go he starts dressing for the plate. He was putting his shins outside his pants, i asked him if he was screwin with me and he said no, i do it all the time i have a skin problem and cant wear em under my pants. I said, I'll take the plate, he said no he'll do it. I had no idea what to do. 10 minutes before we walked up to the field he puts them on right, looks at me and said, "gotcha Kid". He did it to losen us up before the game. It worked we both had a great game and not just an easy game. At our next association meeting, a bunch of the old timers were talking about it and how he does it all the time to new partners.

Hello....VIRUS

Virus means possibly contagious.

Good Bye  Go Home and get away from me.

I don't want to get sick nor do I want your VIRUS to follow me home to my family.

Hopefully you did not shake his hand or you washed and sanitized your hands immediately upon finding out.

I'm going to try this on one of my partners.
