I'll be in San Diego for my 10-year anniversary with my wife. We celebrated last week, but opted to hold our annual trip until May. We'll be in town from late Wed, May 2 until Sun, May 6.

I've bought two tickets for Padres/Marlins on Friday night. My wife has stated she would go, but I know she's not a big fan of baseball. I'm going to talk to her tonight and see if she would enjoy having the evening to herself if I could find someone to go to the game with me.

If she agrees, are there any of you SD-based guys that wouldn't mind spending a few hours with a Cardinals fan? The seats are front row at Section 137 and don't seem too horribly bad. I don't mind eating the cost of the ticket (through StubHub, I paid for both what I was expecting for one ticket), so don't make that a deciding factor.

In addition, I wouldn't mind seeing others in the area. Would something on Friday night be feasible to meet you all? Since the game starts at 7, it should be over after all of you have finished your daily allotment of baseball games (you all do get 3-4 games a night, everyday of the year, right?). I'm not a heavy drinker, but don't mind spending some time with fellow arbiters.

Of course, this all depends on the wife's plans. If she decides to go to the game, I could still plan something afterward to meet you all. I'll know more in the next week or so.

So, let me see if I understand this correctly. You purchased tickets before consulting with SWMBO? And you're considering going to a game without her on your anniversary trip?

Kinda. We'd talked about it before, but I didn't like the tickets available for the price I was comfortable paying. At the time, she said she'd go to the game. So, when I saw the better seats at a cheaper price, I went ahead and bought them. Plus, I know she doesn't like baseball. My thought was she would prefer to spend the time doing something she'd enjoy over sitting in a seat at a baseball game.

I'm sure there will be a time this blows up in my face, though. :)

This is when you know you have a good wife. This summer we spent a week in NY state celebrating our 25th anniversary. I let her plan the whole thing, we did Niagra Falls, Cooperstown, NY City and it was planned to go zip lining. So my wife chose to let me go see the HOF while she did other things. She also chose zip lining because she knew I enjoy it. You can't beat a good woman.

Well, to make sure it's a "small" explosion, you might want to book an ocean view table for a romantic dinner for two (that would be you and your wife) at George's On The Cove in La Jolla while you're out there. Trust me, chicks dig that stuff. http://www.georgesatthecove.com/

Michael,

We have laws like that in Illinois too.

Andrew,

Your wife will probably decide to go to the game with you as soon as she gets a load of how many luscious, gorgeous, eager young babes flock to the area around Petco Park every Friday night.

Agreed.

Every year we go to Mardi Gras at the Gaslamp quarter next to PETCO.

It is everything you can imagine. . .

Just be thankful its not during the summer when all the hot Brazilian girls come up to the Pacific Beach area in like June and July!

Is it too late to pray for early warmer weather?
