I absolutely love my Douglas CP, with the exception of the harness. It works reasonably well, but in looking at the pictures of the "DeltaFlex" harness on the new All Star System 7, I am wondering if the DeltaFlex would work on the Douglas. I contacted All Star and they said they they will sell the harness separately, but it won't be available until February. From the looks of the DeltaFlex and they way it connects to the System 7 CP, it looks to me like it could fit easily on a Douglas. Does anyone have both CPs and if so, can you confirm that it would work?

I just looked and tried this (I have both) and if the delta flex is a direct replacement it will work. You need to move the hardware (sliding adjusters rings and buckles) from the Douglas harness to the All Star harness. I will say the the delta flex on the Douglas really makes the neck opening small and it was tight pulling it on over my head. Longer straps on the delta flex would help. I will say this did make the Douglas fit closer to the body and is an improvement. Good luck.

Thanks for trying it out. I did get some additional info from All Star that the straps on the DeltaFlex are 1.5 inches wide and the buckle is 1.75 inches wide which match the Douglas straps and buckle perfectly. It's certainly something I am willing to try for $19.95 plus shipping. Now I just have to wait until February.

Update on this topic: I emailed All Star to find out if the Delta Harness is available. Jena in customer service said that it doesn't appear that the one on the Umpire CP is going to be offered as a replacement part anytime soon. She suggested this one (which also comes in black):

I ordered it for $13.95 + shipping. I'll report back when I receive it and put it on. I love the Douglas, but am not a fan of the harness on it. Hope this is an improvement.

That is funny. I called Ump-attire earlier this week and they said they just received replacement padding for the new All-star CP and that they are expecting replacement harnesses for it very soon. I for one would purchase at least 2 of the umpire delta-flex harnesses if it they were made available. Maybe Jim or Brad can fill us in on this.

I will be curious to see what they say because the customer service rep at All Star said they haven't even been ordered from the factory yet. I want mine sooner rather than later, so the one without the center cut out will have to do. It will certainly be an upgrade to the current harness.

Hey guys,

If you want the CPU4000 harness you're just going to have to buy the CPU4000! ;)

Kidding aside, the CPU4000 harness (model no:CPUHPRO) will be available early February. Just looked it up. We're not going to have tons of them, so first come first serve. Sorry we didn't bring more in sooner... but we were hoping that umpires with the CPU4000 wouldn't wear out their harness in less than a season! Sorry we over looked you guys looking to modify your gear!

Brad, are the future protectors going to be made with a little more room in the neck area ?

After getting some feedback on it, we will likely open it up a bit... but not by a ton.

We cut it close on purpose because we really wanted to protect the collar bone area as much as possible. This would be phased in for the 2013 season...

Good to hear on the harness front. Let us know where to go to get one...or two.

I think i am going to try the soccer ball trick on the neck of mine to make it a little bigger. I don't have much length to my neck but I have a large neck. It is a minor problem, but I still love my CPU 4000

When I got my Gold, my 17 1/2-inch neck didn't fit comfortably. I had no such problem with the Platinum.

I was incensed. I fumed about it on here, and Warren suggested that I wedge a basketball in there for a couple of days. I did as he suggested, and, voila! I actually used a girls' basketball, because a standard one seemed to be a little too large. The idea of slightly deflating it first is also a good one.

Obviously, we would each like to have our chest protector designed to fit our body precisely, but unfortunately, Carlucci passed away. So we'll have to adjust reshape the ones we have.

I received the harness and put it on and it works very well. It's a much more comfortable fit as the shape of the harness allows me to fit it tighter while distributing the load better. Here is a pic:
