i have TG on all 3 masks . for the silver diamond , i have a diamond snap type TG . for the pro9 a pro9 TG that uses velcro . then i have the allstar newer fm ump2000 model , for which i didnt have a TG . so i bought one from a sporting goods store just a basic plastic easton (which looks exactly like the pro9 , except for the label ) probably made by the same company , that came with some "laces" to tie onto a mask . the laces looked cheap , so i used black "zip ties" since this last season . it worked but the zip ties weren't so good looking . well i had a "light bulb" moment . so i purchased , a couple "spring clips" , better known as carbiener's (spelling ?) , used in climbing ect... the ones i found weren't black so i had to paint them . this provides a cleanlook and allows the TG to hang freely , ands looks like a product that belongs with the mask and TG . i have attached a couple of photos . i may keep looking for factory painted ones , i can already see that the paint will chip over time .

Marc, ..

I don't really see the benefit of hanging a throat guard off of the masks thoat guard? There will still be a decent gap when in your stance. The closest to the chest protector the better, ... IMHO

that is a fair observation , however i have had several foul ball(s) take a direct shot , and come up under the mask TG . the dangling TG stopped it from any injury . in fact i have had the TG completely ripped from the mask at least once . TG are a matter of preference at any level for sure . my intent was merley to pass along a tip for those who prefer TG's , and to show a possible solution .

I have broken two throat guards in the last three years. I

must be living right! I would never step on the diamond without one on my mask. I think it looks cool...I would wonder how much noise it would make?

They seem to be hanging way too low!

the TG hangs just right , for myself . no ball can get in between the gap , i checked using a bball . however smaller clips (shorter) clips can adjust height to any preferences .

i didnt notice any significant rattling or similar noise's , from the clips . the clips allow the TG to freely swing and protect , without much issue , as far as i can tell . i have used this mask twice so far , seemed to work fine .

Another concern I would have is the clips rubbing away the powdercoat of the mask frame. Might be something to keep an eye on over time.

I have velcro straps on my throat guard. I don't attach them to the bottom of the extended protector of my dyna-lite. I attach them to the bottom of the mask. I use a 6" protector and this eliminates the gap issue.
