Fake Nike Mask on Ebay.

I get all the "brotherhood" stuff about the mask, but it's a silly mask on eBay. Stuff goes for way more than it's worth every day on there. If you want to spend time getting worked up about it and sending messages to the seller, go for it. It is low to try and trick buyers into thinking they are getting a Nike mask, but the buyers are responsible as well. The day this thread started, I went to the eBay listing and it said it was a Wilson frame with Nike pads. Can't get much clearer than that.

Fair enough, but, ...like others have said ........he should have changed the title of his auction. Changing something in the description was the right thing to do, but he didn't finish it .... imho .....

I don't believe this would have pulled what it pulled if it had read correctly from day 1

Ebay is no different than buying anything online. You need to know what you're looking for, and you also need to pay attention to what's being offered. A glance at the sellers information and 'rating status' helps too .......

Exactly! I have had pretty good luck with ebay. No need to throw the baby out with the bath water here. Ultimately, the fraudulent claim that the mask was a Nike was debunked before the item was sold. That means the system can work if people know how to ask the right questions.

Yes and no. On eBay, you're buying it from an unknown person, using a third-party site to complete the transaction. There are ways to dispute a transaction, but there's a reason eBay warns about "buyer beware."

Save for the crappy polywools, I have had really good luck on eBay with umpiring stuff. I have sold quite a bit of stuff on there as well.

Well, it's actually just a Honda, but it kinda' sorta' looks like a Harley if you blur your eyes, and it was parked next to a Harley once.

It must have been our messages to him. This is the way I worded mine:

"You need to be informed that this mask is not a Nike mask; it's a Wilson with a set of Nike pads and a Nike harness. A used Wilson with used Nike pads is worth less than half of what it's already going for in this auction. In telling you this, I'm trying to help you avoid a monumental hassle, when the buyer discovers his very expensive mask is not really a genuine Nike. You should end this and re-list it with an accurate description.

My hat's off to the guy. He definitely has a conscience, and once informed of it, he acted, unlike slimeball Kevin Curt.

I know this thread is old but I saw an add on craigslist of all places where a guy was selling a +POS Zero-G with Nike pads and a Nike harness and had it listed as a Nike titanium mask and was asking $650 for it. I sent him a "nice" little email about how it was clearly not a Nike and that he should reconsider the wording of his post. He still had it up later that day so I flagged it and it hasn't been put up since. Had I seen this thread sooner I would have saved a screenshot of the post before I flagged it to post on here.
