so..he's wearing his CP while driving home and then he sues for faulty equipment? sounds like he may be pissing up the wrong tree with this.

I haven't checked, but I don't think my Platinum says "Do not wear while driving a vehicle." :rolleyes:

I see some of our guys jumping straight in the car after a game. I always remove my gear.

I had a partner call and say that he's running late, so he'll get dressed at home and meet me at the field. I thought he meant he'd be wearing his pants and shirt; no, he pulled up fully dressed for the plate.

The guy probably had a really bad game and was just trying to get outta Dodge. That game may have had more to do with the stroke...

It's definitely not the best idea, but I can see me doing it in a pinch.

For example, if my wife was working in the morning and she was running late coming home, it wouldn't be hard for me to get ready with the kids playing in another room. I'd put all my stuff on so I'd be ready when I get there.

Of course, the best way to handle it is to call your partner and have him take the plate.

I once had a partner that showed for a DH up on a motorcycle ready for the plate. He had his base shoes and mask in a shoe bag. He was wearing all of the other gear. I can't remember the reason why but, I will not forget the sight of him driving in with his CP and SG already on. I don't recall any particular issues with the game.

Should have worn his mask to help keep the bugs out of his face. LOL

In my first game as PU Wednesday, it was raining cats and dogs when the game ended (you can read the full story in "Helluva First game as PU" thread).... When I finished up, I made sure the kids handshake was all good, shook the coaches hands, and ran to my dad's car (I'm only 16) to leave. I tossed my mask in the back seat and as we started pulling away, I thought of this thread, and took my chest protector off while in the passenger seat.

Funny you mention this. My first year, first scrimmage. First umpiring action of any kind. I thought I had to come to he field dressed. I had all my gear on, fully dressed, everything on except for the mask. I pulled up to the high school where the assignor and 3 other guys were putting on their gear. I didn't know why they had a chuckle but quickly realized that maybe I should've put on the gear in the parking lot. That seems like another lifetime ago.
