I looked on Easton's website and they don't show a mask, just helmets. Maybe it was some other brand??? Diamond perhaps???

Part of the argument is lack of awareness of differences in rules. The answer is "A" in FED and "D" in OBR. So in OBR, how would you rule on this play, as described? Balk or no balk?

True or False: A runner is always out when he initiates malicious contact. I know the rule says, . . . "if on offense, the player is ejected and declared out, unless he has already scored." The question is, after a runner scores, is he still considered a runner (or am I just being too nit-picky)?

At the clinic I attended last fall, I got "my money's worth" after about 30 seconds in the cage. The first thing our instructors looked for was tracking the ball all the way to the glove. I had been "taught" this, but never observed. In my case, I was keeping my head still, but not tracking all the way to the glove. I definitely feel like my strike zone improved in quality and consistency. Both AA umpires at the clinic said they used the tracking exercises with the tennis ball sitting with their back and head against a wall and bouncing the ball around just moving their eyes.

If the run scored before the MC, wouldn't you ignore the obstruction anyway?

This is the way I understand it: Any BBCOR bat is approved for use in 2011 (aluminum or composite)Any aluminum BESR bat is approved for 2011.Any composite BESR bat is NOT approved for 2011 unless:The manufacturer receives a waiver by demonstrating the bat meets ABI Approved BESR Composite bats will not have an ABI stamp. The bat will simply be placed on the waiver list.

For those of you who serve as Assignors, what are the typical fees? Are fees assessed by the game or is it a flat fee for the league? Are the fees graduated based on the level of baseball? I know it can be a real headache sometimes. I was just wondering if it was "worth it"?:question1:

Jax, Must be something local. In VA I don't see anyone getting a District or State assignment unless they are certified.

I have an Elbeco Ufx mock that I wear under my pullover when it gets chilly. I also have UA coldgear and IMHO the Elbeco is superior. I also wear it hunting because it is warmer on the deer stand. At a recent clinic I attended, I placed my 13" Douglas on top of a Riddel Power (size L) and the coverage was almost identical. Great protection, slim profile, no "extra bonus." :D

I agree Warren. I noticed last night on the play where Kinsler made a great stop on a grounder and threw wide to first forcing the first baseman to stretch, they replayed it umpteen times from every angle possible trying to see the first baseman's foot off the bag - but to no avail! ;)

He's listed at 6' 7" and 290, but very athletic. He's been a favorite of mine since his early days in Cleveland. Davis looks so calm - with Cruz and Sabathia barreling down on me like that, I would be crapping jackrocks!:rollinglaugh:

How about the offensive coach who sees you award the base and then in the future instructs his runners to take off every time a fielder moves into the baseline near him when the ball is live?

Rule 3.15 Comment: The question of intentional or unintentional interference shall be decided on the basis of the person’s action. In your case, you have to decide if the coach's (lack of) action was intentional. If that was your judgment, you made the right call. I would typically give wide latitude to a coach that was making some effort to not interfere.

13 Prep league this weekend. With 2 strikes, F1 throws (unintentionally) behind the batter. Batter ducks and ball tips off the bat in to the F2's mitt for strike 3. At the lower levels, I have seen numerous foul balls this way, and one or 2 fair balls, but this was my first foul tip strike 3! HPU froze for a second. I know he was thinking the same thing I was - Did that just really happen? Gotta love Fall Ball!

So I'm BU in fair territory but close to the line on one of these plays with pressure that results in an overthrow with BR heading to second. It's my call - where do I go and how do I get there? Stay outside or cross inside behind the runner?

I assume (I know, dangerous) that Hoye calls the B/R out, ball dropped on the transfer, but Hirshbeck doesn't see the out call. No replay shows Hoye make the call.
