I'm not exactly sure what is going on with the NABA in my area this year, but we have had a rash of ejections lately. I assign for this league and I am notified of all ejections. So far this year, we have had 10 player ejections and ejected a manager after a team had been warned. In the manager ejection, the manager was also a player and when the pitcher hit the next batter the pitcher and manager were ejected. They only had 7 players after that, ball game! Like I said, it's been a little strange around here.

That's good info, .... we have grey's coming.... when you say "new pro blue' ...are you talking about the Majestic MLB copy? Yes. And they both look GOOD!

In the summer, I work primarily with the same partner. We have several shirts from The Officials Choice, including black, new black, pro blue, new pro blue, gray, white and the creme. These are GREAT shirts for summer ball. I could not recommend them more highly.

Oh, and as far as the positioning in the attached picture, it was a 6-man crew.

Agreed, you are making 2 calls on the same play. However, one of the calls is unnecessary. In the OP, the play as described was a quick one. If you're in position, see the no tag and then the overslide, just make the out call. Your positioning shows you saw both parts. A safe and then an out call? No, slow down and just make the out call. And, the out call would very relaxed.

Here's a good picture that kind of demonstrates timing. 2009 Tennessee HS State Tournament I know, it's not a very good picture, but that's the only picture I saw of me during the tournament. 3rd baseman missed the tag, watched runner overslide the bag and was tagged out. Only one mechanic, an out call.

It'll be fine. The adult league I do here is absolutely the easiest baseball I do. The only drawback is that they are sure slow on/off the field and sometimes it's hard to find strikes.

I'm not familiar with the "No Tag" mechanic. Why wouldn't you just use the safe mechanic and then the out mechanic in the OP? Or, just slow your timing down and just call the runner out?

How do you "eject" fans? Don't put your arm behind your back.

I do not care about you tube - Get out of this habit. When the game is over it's over. Leave Pete Booth Is this to avoid maulings by parents or just a professionalism thing? If I think a team is upset with me, I put the extra balls on the plate and skedaddle, but otherwise I stay to shake hands with the coaches and players. I agree. When you have a coach who isn't being a (use imagination) all game, I want to thank him for a good game... Now I've had coaches that were somewhat a piece of work, and I know wouldn't be all too pleasant if I shook their hand, so I would skip it completely. I don't see shaking the hands as a big deal, as long as you do it for both or don't for both. Only shake hands with one person, your partner, when the game is over. Get off the field, no one wants to talk with you. You know if you had a good game or not, you don't need either coach telling you so. LEAVE!

Geez guys, I really don't think anyone is paying attention to where we put our mask. Granted, between innings, I am either on the 1st or 3rd base side, with my mask with me. But if I go over between innings and get a drink, wipe my face, etc., I don't get overly concerned about dropping mask to the ground and doing whatever I need to do. And as far as appearances go, if my mechanics are good, timing is good, rotations are made and positioning is good, I really don't think anyone, except maybe other umpires, will notice my mask.

I disagree. If I'm going to wipe my face, open a bottle of water, etc. the mask is going on the ground. Pads up, but on the ground.
