  1. It was just an aggressive swinging strike three mechanic.
  2. Done a lot in the big leagues... Plate guy wears what he wants (for example light blue and base umpires wear black). Base umpires just have to match other base umpires. Not a big deal.

    2 for 1

Agreed (from another 21 year old)!

    2 for 1

I wonder why that is. .:crybaby2:
  5. "What is wrong with coaches?" There isn't enough time in the day to go over all this... But the short answer is that they get to play KING RAT for 3 hours
  6. Leaving his position to argue balls and strikes.... That's an automatic ejection. Doesn't matter if he swears or not...He's gotta go!!!
  7. Ejections come and go. Sometime you'll seem like you have and ejection every week. Sometimes you may go a whole year with out one. It's just one of those thing, all you can do is take of your business.
  8. agreed! On another note. I personally am not allowing them to swarm the plate unless its a walk-off. In which case I don't care what they do.
  9. I use their first name. They are not my coach. (Although there's a few that think they are.)
  10. Man John has been injury poor the last couple years... Hope he's ok.
  11. He knew he didn't really have an argument. However there are some of those o so wonderful managers out there that think they have to argue anyway.
  12. My crew used this mechanic last year... When I'm at home we just go over it in pregame.
  13. O yeah, the odds of this situation happening are probably very little. But why set yourself up for it to happen? This is just my opinion. I may be totally of base on this one.
  14. agreed 100% Plus now what happens if you forget to point after the runner touches the plate? Possible scenario: You (the umpire) have pointed every time the runner legally touches home plate. But this time you forget to point after seeing the runner legally touch home plate... The defense appeals, possibly because they say that you didn't point and you indicate after the appeal that the runner legally touched the plate (the safe mechanic). You will probably have an argument, with the coach saying something like, "You point every time the runner touches the plate. Why didn't you point this t
  15. The guy is an entertainer. The real umpire goes to the dugout or the tunnel to the locker room and the actor/entertainer comes out.

Not a word after the ej. manager asked what he said, i told him, and he gave me the replacement and we moved on. it was pretty simple.
  17. Goals: #1 Don't screw up a rule. (although the ncaa dh rule doesn't count cause i still don't get that one...jk) #2 Don't miss an ej. #3 Keep my ejs under 15 this year.... just the same i dont care if i have 1 or 40. If the gotta go, they gotta go. #4 Don't put myself in a position that I'll have to come back and get help on that play. (only went for help once last year)
  18. Had a concussion last year. Other than that nothing other than getting hit with a few foul balls. O, a partner of mine had to leave the game after getting hit in the mask and we worked 2 man the rest of the day. But it's all part of the job.
  19. Clean them with the Scrubbing Bubbles and spray them down with the hair spray. They should dry in a couple minutes.

Game 1 of the year is a D2 game.... Play at the plate, call the runner out, he says. " You're f**cking terrible!" Thanks for coming buddy, bye now. :HD:
  21. I started basketball this off-season. A friend of mine who I work a lot of baseball with, encouraged me to try it. Boy you talk about whining, begging, and crying. But I'm having a pretty good time with it. He wants me to try football next year and I am.
