  1. That's how Cuzzi's mask normally looks too. The funny thing is that this isn't even a newer FM25 with All Star's I-bar technology for the eye bars... this is the original round bar mask!
  2. If these are like others I've used before, they're not as big as an 8-stitch so I'd agree they're very close to a 6-stitch. I believe these are the BC-500. On the positive side, Epic has a TON of these. Like over 800 in black... their lowest in stock was purple with 24 left, but the majority of colors had over 100 left each.
  3. Will do. My thing on the UnCap is this... same cost as Cobalt Skully... so if I'm dropping $60 I'll go with a full hard hat. I know you can use the UnCap in the field too, but then you have increased costs of new hats for the plate and the field. I like the idea, but don't like the costs constantly going up. Example: new UnCap $60, new plate hat in black & navy $40, new field hat in black & navy $40 adds up to $140 vs. only using Skully at plate for $60. I haven't even been close to being hit with a line drive in the field, especially near my head, so I think I can still move well enough to get out of the way. Again, I like the idea but cannot justify the costs. I mostly do HS, Legion and Babe Ruth level baseball though so I'm not seeing extreme velocities either.
  4. Well, my two will be here on Friday. I'll let you know. If so, it was under $24 shipped for both. I got a black and a navy for HS.
  5. If you want a regular All Star base coach skull cap... Epic has them for $5.99 in all colors right now. It's a cheap way to test it out. Some masks fit these full-size skull caps just fine. I've tried them under a F3 V2 with no problems. The main thing is just ensure you have room for the pads to compress & expand at impact (so leave an inch between the front of your bill and the rear of the mask bars on your forehead). https://baseball.epicsports.com/prod/144095/base-coach-abs-hard-shell-cap-closeout.html
  6. Do Honig's fit better now? The only few I've tried fit me small. Meaning I'm an XL in Majestic and Smitty, but a Honig's XL fits me tighter. I can hardly get a CP under it, but it looks good on the bases. This has me afraid to drop the money on their shirts and pants as I'm afraid they won't fit me right now either... and Honig's doesn't do free shipping or free returns. I love their mask pads, but have to make it worth my time as something as simple as a set of pads quickly goes from $30 to almost $45 after shipping & taxes.
  7. Yes, this would be the umpire's judgment call as to whether or not he was "pushed" off the base (illegally/intentionally) or was "bumped off" by a normal, legal move. Your judgment is going to pertain as to whether or not it was intentional by the fielder. Was it a normal, slap tag or a hard, purposeful tag? Did the fielder lean into the runner and cause him to lose balance and come off the base? This is the kind of thing you're looking for and at lower levels, I'd tend to tread careful in this area. A 9 or 10 year old child probably doesn't have the wherewithal to be thinking this type of thing up to do it intentionally. One thing I did think of that you may want to watch closely is a lot of coaches at lower levels tell their fielders to "hold the tag on him" for what seems like eternity, so this is an area where this could happen obviously. As you get to more advanced levels, then this may become more of an issue. Aggression levels tend to grow along with any increased baseball knowledge as boys age. Coaching may also encourage them to look for more opportunities to create an out.
  8. If you wish to contact Windpact directly and make a plea for them to sell mask pads separately, here is the link to the contact form: https://windpact.com/contact/
  9. ↑↑↑↑↑ this right here for me too. When doing HS or baseball without time limits, then I keep the game moving right along. No chasing foul balls down (dugout or coaches can get them unless they're close to a player), before a foul ball out of play lands then I have a new one in F1's hands, limit trips to mound by F2, keep batters with one foot in, 5 warm-up pitches or 1 minute between innings as much as possible, etc. to keep the game moving. I can do most HS games (Varsity, JV and Freshmen) in around 1:45 hours. I even did a full Varsity game in 1:15 last year! But... if I'm doing a tournament or Babe Ruth with a time limit - and they always use the full time limit - then I'm with "Dog" here and allow them to use the time up however they want (within reason). I'm going to be there anyway and they're in no hurry, so there's not much sense for me to hurry either. Like last night, the team had to "huddle" between innings before they can go field, at first I tried to hurry them, but once you see that's not going to happen then you just sigh and say 'it's going to be one of those nights again'. They have a time limit and if they're not desiring to use that time playing baseball, then why rush them? Let them have their little chats, change pitchers every 2 innings, warm up as long as they need, etc. If the coaches don't care how they use their time, then I am not going to fight them about it. I'd love to hear what's so important that you have to huddle up with teenage kids, who have been playing ball theoretically for 4-5 years, every inning. I can only imagine the coach is in there saying, "If the ball is hit to you I want you to field it first, then try to throw it 1B and get the runner out!" Or maybe, "Okay, now this inning I want you to throw Strikes out there son!" But it's probably more me just being grumpy for having to be there at all. I love baseball, but we don't play baseball in this league (one umpire calls it Babe Ruth Football because of the scores). The last several games I've done, they've scored almost twice as many runs as hits! I have 2 games left this year and then I'm done with this league and so are about 4 other umpires I know. The problem is it's the only fall baseball in my area, but I'd rather not have it than have to watch/umpire this stuff. Sorry for the rant.
  10. Update from Evoshield: Surprising no one, they will not sell the pads separately. There are no plans to sell anything but the mask at this time.
  11. If you wish to contact Windpact directly and make a plea for them to sell mask pads separately, here is the link to the contact form: https://windpact.com/contact/ As Max so eloquently put it on the other post, the decision to sell the pads is fully on Windpact's yes or no. The other companies who sell the mask with pads are probably under contract to sell as a unit, which is why they cannot sell just the pads to us. But Windpact is the maker of the pads (think Team Wendy here) and could sell outright to us with no middle ground if they choose to do so. It is up to you and I, the consumer, to make them realize the demand is here for these pads if we hope to purchase them without a frame.
  12. I guess the Twins did a give-a-way to fans also. Gant had a buddy in MN get one for him. Pretty fun idea! I wonder if DET did the Joyce/Gallaraga one?
  13. Mine was edited to remove the first name also since I cannot delete posts. @Thunderheads I believe this can be locked now as the OP was able to get the All Star TG he was looking for above.
  14. Sorry, I thought this was common knowledge. Mine has been edited to show your user name versus your first name. I can't delete any posts for some reason.
  15. I had to google it because I didn't remember the Gant/Hbrek play... then I did when I saw it. LOL
  16. To bring this back on topic, my shirt collection is now entirely Smitty. I like OC and Majestic also, but no one in my area has anything but Smitty black, MLB blue, powder blue with navy trim (aka softball) and navy shirts. Occasionally, some have cream, light grey and maybe a red; however no one but one or two guys has anything beyond that. To this point, I have seen one guy in the new pants being offered, so I'm still rocking my poly-wools year-round too so I can match my partners. For undershirts, I like Majestic a lot, but I hate the pricing due to MLB logo, so I use other gear. I'm sure Champro's under apparel is fine. I have found that most of the spandex under-shirts are very similar in fit and material. I'm beginning to suspect it's like the grocery store brand stuff. They use the left over fabric and make the same shirt, but then stick their brand on it instead of the BIG NAME brand logo. Right now, I'm using a cheap $10 under-shirt off of eBay that seem to be holding up very well and fits just as good as the Majestic. They have them in many colors, just go up one size as they are sized for the Asian market. I normally do that with Nike too, so no big deal for me. I want to dress snazzier with OC or Majestic shirts and colors and rock the new Smitty pants, but if I did I would have spent a lot more money on gear that I'd never be able to use as no one has them in my area. I think someone said the average HS official in Ohio is 54. I'm not saying we're old, but change is hard. We're still navy for HS baseball and softball... no other choice. I'm still surprised we're allowed a little white on our shoes (blue guide book says "mostly black").
  17. Sure, I know a guy with a Spyder once I can come up with the $75 to get it. So, post did it's job. Thanks!
  18. Yes, and I liked their shirts, breathed very well in the heat. It seems like they're basically selling whatever is left and then I assume they'll be out-of-business. The only shirt they have left in a L or XL is the maroon/burgundy. All of the others shirts are only offered in mostly S, XXL or XXXL; there are a select one or two offering M also. Nothing in XL or L except the maroon one.
  19. OC is about done now. Very few shirts available in most sizes. Sure, they have the XXXXXXL and XS in stock, but no 'regular' sizes. The only place to scoop these up now seems to be eBay.
  20. I think you're joking... and I certainly hope you are. I'm no traditionalist, but I'm not ready for whatever pink/salmon/raspberry color that is that he is wearing either.
  21. I have also asked Evoshield if they plan on selling the pads separately as well. Will respond with findings.
  22. I find it odd... why on one side only? Why have it there at all? I wonder how hard it'd be to pop that logo off of there? I will say it beats the life out of the UA mask. This is a MUCH better looking mask! They also have a helmet with Windpact technology... at $289! https://www.evoshield.com/en-us/catcher-s-gear/head-protection/pro-srz-catcher-s-helmet
  23. I'm sure this'll go fast! One of these days I hope to snag one.
  24. @acpar72 has one for sale according to the 2nd post. It is still in the wrapper he said.
