  1. If you look later in the game, Diaz was throwing every ball to the pitcher. Martin would stick out his glove and look at Diaz and every time Laz would throw the ball back himself.
  2. Give this man a medal! Talk about a grind, definitely deserve a lot of praise and respect. That is a lot of work put into something. Congratulations, you should celebrate once you recover! I'm sure that will be by umpiring your 51st season .
  3. "That's uncalled for..." Seriously? The only thing that is uncalled for is your whiny, dramatic rant.
  4. That's what happens when you spit in someone's face.
  5. Ugh, I couldn't imagine this hit in that area minus a cup. That'd be permanent damage.
  6. Haha touche! Anyways Day 3: Holly SH*#, I would almost go see a doctor. I'll show it to my dad who is a doctor and see if he has any tips for you. That's insane, brother. Haha please do. I think I should be all right...hopefully!
  7. Haha touche! Anyways Day 3:
  8. Dale Scott (also on CB's crew) took a beating last night. He took one to the groin and a couple of others last night.
  9. Holy Crap! That looks like a 3rd degree burn, wow! Invest in the hex pad tights, right now! Haha. Yeah. It doesn't look normal. And yeah, I need them. Especially now, don't know what will happen if I take another shot there in the next few days.
  10. Always! Got to take one for the team, right?!
  11. No voluntary release. You can sell voluntary release though, if instead of trying to secure posession with the glove, you grab at it.
  12. Hmm they aren't? See if that link works. I'm either posting incorrectly or perhaps the hosting website thinks the picture is inappropriate haha!
  13. I think I regret laughing at that "why would I need that" product. Definitely ordering one or buying one today. I must listen to the wise around here because clearly I am not!
  14. Not quite yellow, though I think it is getting there.... Day 2:
  15. Ouch. I could see why! Hope you didn't break anything. Those hits up there scare me on the shoulder protectors, since they seem they can always find the gap.
  16. That wouldn't be good. Probably not. Only have two plate games to survive. One is basically high school ball, the other Pony Mustang, which may be dangerous because they can't catch at the division I'm doing. Though they usually don't throw hard, so give or take. Though, it may be a bad sign that it hurts every time I push off on a step off my right leg. What doesn't kill me, only makes me stronger ;)
  17. I think so, so long as I don't get hit in the same spot again, I may just cry.
  18. Right into the thigh. Adult league. The guy pitching was gunning it. Former D1 lefty pitcher that pitched in a regional and super regional (ironically went to school with the guy). Lefty batter just gets a piece of it (catcher was lined up to the outside) that came straight back into my right thigh. This is probably the most painful hit I have ever took. I think it actually broke a little skin at first. Took about 30 seconds to a minute to walk this one off, dust off the plate and get ready to go. Wonder what colors this bruise will turn into over the next couple of days (this is just after one):
  19. I had to go to school administrators this year once about fans yelling "foul" after any pitch that would get away when the opposing team's runner was taking off. My logic being High School that it would be verbal interference when the players and coachers were doing it. Being that it was clearly to try and trick the runner I wanted to put a stop to it. Whether there would be anything I could do myself if they didn't stop? *Shrug* Not the slightest clue. I put a stop to it after a kid got to second on a passed ball. And the parents were yelling foul so he walks back to first and gets tagged out. We kept the out, can't call verbal obstruction on the fans, but at that moment I knew it was too much.
  20. I see black here --> :D
  21. Jeremy I am bringing in an article. http://www.weei.com/...-after-ejection After surfing and reading around from others why don't you bring in the the normalized strike zone chart for Bellino for this whole game. Don't look to bad to me for the whole game. Don't think anyone can scream like the pansy Red Sox about this plate job. The 2 biggest strike misses may not have even been on the 3rd strike anyway. You could probably find that out also. I checked back on every at bat to Aviles. Bellino did not miss one call on any pitches to Bellino. IN fact teh very close borderline pitches...that could have maybe been called strikes (as they were probably a fraction of the diameter of the ball form the zone) they were called balls. Any close call went to Aviles. So I have no idea why he was crying.
  22. Brandon McCarthy wrote some thoughts today about the call and his actions toward Laz Diaz: http://bmccarthythoughts.wordpress.com/
  23. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/numlocation.php?pitchSel=488674&game=gid_2012_05_17_bosmlb_tbamlb_1/&batterX=58&innings=yyyyyyyyy&sp_type=1&s_type=3 Pitch wasn't even close to being a ball...
  24. If only the pitch got in time and was hit into play I had the exact same thought. Would have made for a great 1-man training clip, be it what to do or what NOT to do. "I'm workin as hard as I can for you Skip!" ALSO - PUTTING THE BALL IN PLAY F1 on the rubber, with the ball [5.11] F2 ready [4.03(a)] B2 ready [4.02], [PBUC 6.17] 8 fielders in fair territory [4.03] Runners returned to their bases (or close enough) (after a foul ball) [5.09(e)] Partner is ready [Common Sense] https://docs.google....&hl=en_US&gid=7 Nice. Like the little run down. Helps. Got to be consistent when putting it into play!
  25. Good point and that is fair enough. And I agree, however I didn't point on the missed base, I did tell them how to appeal. That is true and it is coaching. But we are talking about 9 year olds in a blow out, in a game a coach is complaining about runners leading off. You have to umpire the level. We aren't talking about an older level, higher play. These kids can't even get fly out or force out. Talking about kids that can barely get off the plate. But if we are going to use this very strict standard I should have called the kids out for leaving their bases early and being strictly impartial I should never open the strike zone, ever, in any game, regardless of score. I think ultimately though it is knowing your audicence. I was attuned to the situation. Realize what is going on. I don't think this was an impartial move on my part, but a fair move. Just like opening up the strike zone. You umpire the play in front of you. But I appreciate the words. I'll keep this in mind because that is our job: to be impartial. And you never know the sh*t storm you can create, which ultimately comes back on me if something happens in result of it. EXACTLY. These kids shouldn't een be pitching anyways. This really should be a pitching machine league. True. It could lead to that. Especially if a coach is willing to complain about trivial things, you never know what it may start. Great story!
