Can you post a pic of your 15" douglas? All the pictures on the site are of the 13" model. I just want to see how much length diffrence between the two.

Yes they are the same type of shoe. Slightly diffrent color combos. Joyce has white in his and wolf has more gray in his shoe.

I would almost be tempted to take my old jacket, remove the stripes, and have my local seamstress sew them on the Majestic jacket! :wave:

This should be intresting to see how well these are adopted. Most associations that use the black jacket use the version with b/w stripes not the polo blue. If these images are correct,(which I'm sure they are) the navy blue and red stripes don't match what's currently out in the marketplace either. Still looks like a pretty bullet proof jacket.

I would also add be mindful of your positioning in the "B" position. If you are to "deep" in B for a steal attempt, you can find yourself with a bad angle and looking into the sliding runners back and miss the tag on a close play. It helps to know the base runners a bit. You should be able to tell if you have a guy on base that is a potential steal threat. Usually his place in the batting order or the type of lead the runner is taking will help you to determine this. When I have a possible steal threat, I usualy take a few steps closer to the mound and a few steps to the right. On the throw down, I keep my chest to the ball moving a few steps closer to 2nd base as the throw passes me. I go to my set, let the play complete and then make my call. Timing is everything because you never know when you might have an over-slide, dropped ball or whatever...

Lets see... I have 3 diffrent brand of pants, I have 2 pair plate SMITTY, 2 pair of base SMITTY, and 2 pair of Sansabelt Base pants. None of these see the field anymore unless field conditions are muddy. All I wear or want to wear is the Poly-wools. I will be buying an aditional plate and base when Honigs has there Christmas sale at the end of the year :rollinglaugh:

+1 Also I dry clean them only once a month. Mine see the field and washer machine atleast 5 days out of a week. I wash them with woolite on gentle cycle and dry them on low heat for about 5 min and put them right on the hanger. Most times I dont even need to iron them as the crease stays sharp right out of the dryer.

Did the shirts that you received have the majestic logo on the left or right sleeve?

Interesting.... when did you purchase and what colors do you have, Most MJ's that I've seen recently have the logo. Also a QQ... what type of collar do you have on your shirts? Is it a cotton or polyester collar?

If your association requires uniform numbers be mindfull that the Majestic logo on these shirts on the right sleeve. This is the same sleeve where your uniform numbers go. This is unlike the MLB model, where the logo is on the left sleeve.

You will find this is the preferd method in most mechanics manuals for a 2 man system. On the appeal of 3rd.... it is the PU responsibility.

I also use the point mechanic for swinging strikes. When I have a swinging strike three, I will give a point for the swing followed by a subtle hammer with a "batters out" only loud enough for the catcher and the batter to hear. What also helps is giving the count before any "2 strike" pitch. I usually give the count @ 0-2, 1-2, 2-2, or 3-2. This way there is no confusion when there is a swinging strike three. Now if the DC was smart... he should have let the at-bat go to completion then appealed for batting out of order :-)

With runners on 2nd and 3rd, on any fly ball or line drive to the outfield, the PU is responsible for tag-ups at 3rd and any play at the plate. The base umpire has the tag-up at 2nd, possible play at 3rd, and the touch of 1st by the batter runner. If the fly ball belongs to the U (no possible fair/foul call), the plate umpire should line up the play to see the catch and tag-up at 3rd then moving back to the plate for a possible play. If the fly ball belongs to the PU (possible fair/foul call) the PU should let the BU know he has the ball and is on the line. The Tag-up at 3rd still belongs to the PU and the Tag-up at 2nd belongs to the BU.

I would also recommend getting a good pair of official umpire slacks as soon as you can. For the short term, there are two options you can use to possibly get out fitted for tonight. Sears usually carries flat front polyester slacks in heather and charcoal grey. Usually they are around 20 dollars. Make sure they are the style with no cuffs! We use these for some of our Jr. umpires when spending $50-$80 on pants is not smart for a kid who will probably grow out of them in a few months. The other option is JC penny they also have some slacks that can be used. Well Long story short, I have a high school teammate that is now a pitching coach in the Braves organization. He was able to send me a surplus one that was not being used by one of his catchers this year. In comparison the Nike seems to be slightly lighter than the Wilson (both without pads). The Wilson pads do put a little extra weight on the frame. I have decided to try the mask with the Nike pads because it is crazy light with the Nike pads! It feels lighter than the silver diamond brand masks. The bars on the Nike appear to be slightly thinner than on the Wilson. The Nike seems to have better welds than on the Wilson also. Not that I am a welding expert....but the Wilson welds seem to be similar to tack welds in some places where the Nike mask has what I would consider to be more "Finished" welds. This may explain why some Wilsons have had issues with bending when hit flush with a foul ball or uncaught pitch. I would disagree that these masks are the same. The Wilson mask is still a great mask but in my opinion, it shows the signs of "mass production" where the Nike mask seems to be "hand made". The Nike mask also comes with a serial number and a manufactured date.

My main rig is a Nike titanium with all black wilson wrap around pads. My back up mask is a Wilson titanium with 2-tone wrap around pads.
