Is there a reason he goes 1BLX vs 3BLX on the 2nd video? the force at home?

I would prefer to see him 3BLEX in the second video so he can see ball in glove on the force play at home.

Question: wouldn't slightly toward the bag in 3BLX be a better angle? I'm thinkin the Danny I. call in the WS. Just seems he'd be in a better position in case something funky happened. Remember the Angel H call when Ichiro danced all around the plate?

That is what I was thinking. 3BLX in both oinstances would have seemed better. Still two great calls

3blx for both for me.  Isn't he almost straight lined on the second video?  If it was a tag play, I would have stayed directly behind the catcher.

Who are these replay guys for the teams? That first play wasn't even that close and they challenged it. Fire that guy.

 

The second one could have been taken from the POP or slightly 3BLX. He was fine as it was but if the catcher got pulled any more toward first base, he may have been straightlined.

In the second video remember it is a force. I bring these up as examples of excellent positioning because he stays in the catcher's left hip pocket perfectly to what is taught. Now if it were a tag situation he's still not in bad position, but possibly PoP or 3BLX would be better, but then again a catcher is not going to field a tag play in front of the plate coming in from 1st. He's going to let the ball travel as far as it can before catching it then try to quickly apply the tag.

Isn't it recommended somewhere to be 1BLX on a force so you then can get RLI or swipe tag responsibilities.
