I thought the correct question is why isn't he wearing his ballbags on the bases?  😜

It's the Bananas ... it's all part of the show.  But he has a nicer mask setup than most umpires!

What does concern me is that it doesn't look like he is wearing any other gear when he is behind the plate.

Good mechanics are good mechanics. This kid is just oozing passion for The Craft and clearly enjoys himself and wants to be out there. He has a very bright future.
