It's happening more locally too....

In Columbus, (I work baseball games in the area) a local softball rec league umpire was punched by the catcher for asking him to move over so he could see the plate better from what I'm understanding.  Player banned for life from league and charged by police.

In Newark (I work numerous games at this facility each year), my cousin was umpiring a local 13U game and got punched by a player who he ejected.  The player was ejected for charging the pitcher who accidentally hit him in the head on a legal pick-off throw to 3B. The ejected player was the runner and was the same size as most adults.  The young man then charged my cousin (umpire) and hit him with a punch.  Local cops were called, but no police report was filed that I know of - but the player is banned for life from league.

It's coming to a field near you because people are out of control.
